Comprehensive foreign affairs create opportunities for the country in the new era

In a volatile international environment, with intertwined opportunities and challenges, foreign affairs have the task of consolidating a peaceful environment and taking advantage of international conditions for the country to develop rapidly.

After 80 years of national founding, with the accumulated position and strength, our country stands at a new historical starting point, entering a new era; requiring rapid, strong, sustainable and synchronous development in all aspects of social life.

That was the speech of Editor-in-Chief of Communist Magazine Hoang Trung Dung introducing the national scientific conference "Foreign relations and diplomacy of Vietnam in the new era, the era of national rise."

The workshop took place on March 7 at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with the Communist Magazine.

According to Mr. Hoang Trung Dung, the country's development requirements are set in the context of the world situation continuing to evolve rapidly and complexly, with opportunities and challenges intertwined. Therefore, to successfully carry out the revolutionary task, all sectors need to be proactive in strategy, thereby clarifying the direction in the new period, serving the successful implementation of the country's two strategic goals for 2030 and 2045.

The workshop received nearly 50 presentations from scientists, scholars, leaders of ministries, departments, sectors, localities, enterprises and representatives of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad. The workshop also listened to many substantive and profound exchanges of opinions from the delegates. The speakers and delegates emphasized the spirit of self-reliance, self-reliance, self-confidence, national pride as well as the spirit of dedication, daring to think, daring to do, daring to innovate, and being ready to take the lead of Vietnamese diplomacy in the new era.

Appreciating the presentations of the departments, ministries and branches, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son expressed his gratitude for the large attendance of the delegates, showing their interest and enthusiasm for foreign affairs in general and Vietnamese diplomacy in particular.

The Deputy Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to accept constructive opinions in a proactive and receptive spirit to perfect theories and supplement practical experience for foreign affairs work in the new stage of the revolutionary cause.

In an international environment with many fluctuations, opportunities and challenges intertwined, in order for the foreign affairs sector to fulfill its task of consolidating a peaceful environment and taking advantage of favorable external international conditions for the country to develop rapidly, clarifying the theoretical basis for the "new era" connotation of the foreign affairs sector, as well as its "important and regular" role, is an urgent requirement.

“The goals and tasks set for foreign affairs in the new period are very high. Therefore, on the basis of perfecting the theory of foreign affairs in the new era and the theory of the Vietnamese diplomatic school, the foreign affairs sector needs to truly rise to new heights, moving towards a comprehensive, modern, and professional diplomacy that is equal to its tasks,” Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son emphasized.

In his concluding remarks at the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, acknowledged the initiative demonstrating the proactive spirit and timely response of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Communist Magazine in organizing the Workshop in the context of the entire political system promoting institutionalization and concretization of the connotation of the "new era."

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang highly appreciated the presentations and enthusiastic contributions at the workshop, reflecting both theoretical depth and practicality.

In the spirit of persevering in Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's diplomatic thought, the nation's diplomatic tradition and absorbing the quintessence of human civilization, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang emphasized a number of major contents and orientations for foreign affairs in the new era.

Accordingly, diplomacy in the new era must be a comprehensive and modern diplomacy, promoting a pioneering role, together with national defense and security, performing important and regular tasks; must be a bridge combining internal and external resources, taking advantage of favorable conditions and external resources, contributing to expanding development space, creating new opportunities, effectively serving the country's strategic breakthroughs; promoting the image and values ​​of Vietnam to the world, raising the level of Vietnam's contributions to common international issues.
