The cooperative's revenue increased by over 7 billion VND after being honored as a VNSX Farmer in 2020

At 4:00 p.m., after a flight of more than an hour, Mr. Hung Ky - Director of Tuan Tu Cooperative, An Hai Commune, Ninh Phuoc District (Ninh Thuan Province) arrived at the hotel. After 4 years, the Cham ethnic man had the opportunity to return to Hanoi. He said that this return brought a lot of joy and a different mindset, because his cooperative has grown stronger and stronger.

The last time he visited Hanoi was in 2020, when Mr. Hung Ky was honored to receive the title of Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union. He said that he had learned a lot of experience in production and cooperative management when meeting and exchanging with other outstanding farmers from all over the country.

In 2020, the asparagus growing area of Tuan Tu Cooperative was only 36 hectares, with a revenue of 2 billion/year, but after 4 years, the Cooperative has grown to 54 hectares and linked with other asparagus growing households to grow 200 hectares, with an average revenue of 7-8 billion/year.

Mr. Hung Ky shared that Ninh Thuan - his hometown is mainly white sand hills, the land that can be cultivated is very limited, only cactus can survive in that land full of "sun and wind". However, with research, dynamism and creativity, he brought asparagus back to plant for experiment and the results were successful beyond imagination.

To connect farmers to "do big business", he established Tuan Tu Cooperative. On the white sand and scorching sun, asparagus still grows strongly, becoming a "rich plant" for him and the members of the Cooperative.

Mr. Hung Ky excitedly said that the asparagus growing model of Tuan Tu Cooperative was honored to welcome leaders of the Party, State, Central Committee of Vietnam Farmers' Union and Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to visit and encourage.

Typical cooperative proposes planning for shrimp-rice farming area

Accompanied by his wife to the capital, Mr. Nong Van Thach - Director of Ba Dinh Agricultural Cooperative, Vinh Loc A commune, Hong Dan district (Bac Lieu) was very proud to represent 251 members of the cooperative to receive the title of typical cooperative in 2024.

Mr. Thach said that the cooperative is currently mainly linked to provide agricultural services such as: probiotics, seeds, rice seeds, fertilizers, pesticides... at reasonable prices so that members and people in the region can feel secure in production.

In addition, Ba Dinh Agricultural Cooperative also coordinated with specialized departments at all levels to organize technical guidance for shrimp production members, contributing to supporting members to organize production to achieve high efficiency. As a result, in 2023, the revenue was over 278 billion VND, the cooperative's services operated and maintained quite well.

Currently, the Cooperative organizes 16 services for members, with more than 20 associated partners, including 5 shrimp farming services, 8 rice growing services and 3 community services, specifically providing more than 20 million giant tiger prawn, whiteleg and green-legged shrimp, providing more than 80 tons of feed for shrimp farming and some minerals and biological products of Bodhi for aquaculture, consuming more than 30 tons of crayfish meat; crayfish harvesting service for hire solves for more than 250 laborers, spraying service by plane for more than 1,500 workers... has contributed to reducing input costs for members by 10 - 15%.

As part of the 2024 Vietnamese Farmers' Pride Program, the 2024 National Farmers' Forum with the theme: "Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Union - Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development listens to farmers", Mr. Thach really hopes that the leaders of the Central Vietnam Farmers' Union and the commander of the agricultural sector will answer the questions and recommendations of farmers, including the issue of planning raw material areas and planning shrimp farming areas.

"Our cooperative really wants to plan shrimp-rice farming areas to stabilize production, increase the value and brand of shrimp-rice in the Mekong Delta," Mr. Thach shared.

Also "accompanied" by his wife to Hanoi this time, Mr. Tran Anh Nhan, My Thuan hamlet, Nhon My commune, Ke Sach district (Soc Trang province) said he was very happy that after many years of hard work, he was honored to receive the title of Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer.

In Soc Trang, Mr. Nhan is considered a "wizard" when growing mutant purple star apples that bear fruit all year round. In order to produce sustainably, as well as to bring the Soc Trang star apple brand "further", this time in Hanoi, he hopes to learn many new farming methods from other excellent farmers.

And before attending the 2024 Vietnamese Farmers' Pride Program, Mr. Nhan said that tonight (October 12), he will take his wife to visit Hanoi's Old Quarter and enjoy the capital's specialties.

Recommendations for controlling food safety issues

Arriving in Hanoi the day before, Ms. Nguyen Kim Thuy - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ky Nhu Cooperative (Hau Giang), was busy participating in events and programs in Hanoi. Accordingly, the products of Ky Nhu Cooperative were voted and received the title "Golden Brand of Agriculture and Rural Areas". "This title affirms the proud achievements in the agricultural sector that the Cooperative has achieved", Ms. Thuy told Dan Viet.

Ms. Thuy said she felt very happy, honored and proud to be voted as the Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer of 2024. This title has motivated her as well as the members of the Cooperative. In addition, it contributes to supporting local farmers to have jobs with the model of aquaculture and processing.

Currently, the revenue of Ky Nhu Cooperative is over 18 billion/year, of which about 10 products have achieved 4-star OCOP. In order for the Cooperative to continue to develop, Ms. Thuy wishes to make recommendations to the President of the Vietnam Farmers' Union and the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development at the upcoming National Farmers' Forum on market management activities, thereby controlling food safety issues. According to her, currently the market is flooded with uncontrolled food, which greatly affects legitimate establishments and cooperatives.
