Recently, in Hieu commune (Kon Plong district), the work of building new rural villages has been promoted by the local Party Committee and government. Mr. Do Xuan Ky, Chairman of Hieu commune People's Committee, said that the work of building new rural villages in the area has achieved certain results.
The national target program on new rural construction has brought a new look to Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province.
Specifically, the rural appearance in the commune has improved, the socio-economic infrastructure has been improved; cultural, artistic and sports activities have been promoted; the quality of education has been increasingly improved; infrastructure has been gradually invested synchronously; social security has been ensured, and the material and spiritual life of the people has been significantly improved.
"The construction of new rural villages in the commune still faces some difficulties, the number of poor and near-poor households is relatively large.
People mainly grow cassava, their income is still low, life is difficult. Currently, there are 9 villages in the commune, all of which have not yet achieved new rural standards. It is expected that in 2025, Kon Plong village will achieve new rural standards," said Mr. Ky.
According to Mr. Ky, in recent times, with the attention and support of all levels and communes, people have gradually shifted from growing cassava to growing cold-climate coffee, tea and value chain production models. Thereby, helping households develop the economy, increase income, and stabilize their lives.
Not only Hieu commune, in Mang Canh commune, the construction of new rural areas is also focused on by the locality. According to the reporter's records, in Kon Chenh village, the roads have been concreted, spacious and clean.
People approach and apply science and technology to develop agricultural production and social life. Many livestock and crop models with high economic efficiency are implemented such as: Growing ginseng, cold-climate vegetables and fruits, cold-climate coffee, etc.
People in Kon Plong district take advantage of the beautiful natural landscape, cool climate and unique cultural identity to develop tourism, create a stable source of income and improve their lives.
In addition, villagers have access to and investment in community tourism, many homestay accommodation facilities have been invested to serve tourists. The lives of people in Kon Chênh are increasingly improved, income has improved significantly.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan - Chairman of Mang Canh Commune People's Committee, KonPlong District said that, implementing Directive No. 12-CT/TU, dated February 18, 2022 of the Provincial Party Standing Committee "On strengthening the leadership of Party committees at all levels in the construction of new rural villages in ethnic minority areas", in recent times, the implementation of new rural village construction has been regularly directed by Party committees and commune authorities.
Up to now, important results have been achieved, the socio-economy has improved, people's lives have been raised, education has been increasingly developed, medical work and health care have achieved good results, social security has been guaranteed...
According to Mr. Tuan, through review, up to now, the hamlets in the commune have met an average of 8/10 criteria/hamlet. Specifically, the hamlets of Kon Nang, Kon Kum, Dak Ne, Mang Panh met 8/10 criteria; the hamlets of Mang Canh, Kon Du, Kon Tu Ma, Kon Tu Rang met 9/10 criteria.
Thanks to the support of local authorities, people in Kon Plong district have boldly transformed their livestock structure, applied scientific and technical advances in production, contributing to increasing income and developing family economy.
"Currently, there are 9 villages in the commune, including Kon Chenh village, which has met the new rural village standards. It is expected that this year (2025), Kon Tu Ma village and Kon Tu Rang village will become new rural villages. The remaining villages are still continuing to implement new rural construction.
In recent years, the locality has paid attention to supporting models and projects to develop production, so the village mindset in agricultural production has also changed. Currently, businesses are joining hands with people to produce, thereby making positive changes in people's lives," said Mr. Tuan.
According to the District Department of Agriculture and Environment, the District People's Committee regularly directs agencies and units to focus on coordinating and guiding communes to effectively implement the work of building new rural areas in the area; at the same time, guiding the People's Committees of communes to complete the dossiers to recognize villages meeting new rural standards in ethnic minority areas.
Up to now, the work of building new rural villages in ethnic minority areas has had many positive changes. The District People's Committee has issued a Decision to recognize 7 villages meeting the standards of new rural villages in ethnic minority areas.
To promote the construction of villages meeting new rural standards in ethnic minority areas, Kon Plong district requests the People's Committees of communes to regularly review and report on the status of construction of villages meeting new rural standards; promptly complete dossiers for villages meeting the criteria.
People in Kon Plong district are actively converting their livestock structure from traditional livestock to livestock with higher economic value, in order to increase income and improve their lives.
For villages that have not yet achieved the target, the locality will focus resources and strengthen implementation solutions to complete the target according to the set plan; strive to achieve 33/66 villages meeting new rural standards by the end of 2025, accounting for 50% of the total number of villages in the district.
Kon Plong District also requested the People's Committees of communes to organize specific reviews according to 10 criteria for building new rural villages for each village; correctly assess the current situation and develop specific plans; clearly define tasks for each month and quarter for each village and each criterion...
Thereby, building estimates, drafting plans for resource mobilization; collecting public opinions to organize implementation with the highest efficiency.
