Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health Tang Chi Thuong has just sent an urgent document to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee regarding the inspection, urging the implementation of tasks and resolving recommendations, removing difficulties and obstacles of health sector agencies and units.
In particular, he proposed that the City People's Committee soon consider and approve the project to build a new Mental Hospital (Tan Phu Ward, Thu Duc City) and Orthopedic Trauma Hospital (Tan Kien Medical Area, Binh Chanh District). These are two hospitals that have been overloaded and degraded for many years despite many proposals and recommendations for solutions.
The Director of the Department of Health also proposed that the City People's Committee allow the unit to add the project: "Piloting the family doctor model of the Republic of Cuba in suburban districts of Ho Chi Minh City" to the 2024 work program.

Accordingly, the Department of Health will develop and advise the City People's Committee to select 5 districts (each district selects a commune far from the central area) to pilot the family doctor model within two years, then evaluate and replicate it to other wards and communes.
The Department of Health will coordinate with the Department of Foreign Affairs to soon submit to the City People's Committee a draft cooperation agreement (MOU) with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Cuba on training, consulting, experience sharing, and pilot implementation of the family doctor model.
This model has been adjusted to suit the characteristics of Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, it implements cooperation, research and experience sharing activities in the fields of medicine, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.
Finally, the Department of Health proposed to allow the unit to coordinate with departments, branches and the People's Committee of Binh Chanh district to pilot the addition of human resources to the health station according to the population size in Vinh Loc B commune, Binh Chanh district.
