The 76th edition of the Cannes International Film Festival kicked off on May 16 and will run until May 27. With a total of 52 films selected for premiere, the Cannes Film Festival promises to bring audiences a quality cinematic experience, with the outstanding "blockbusters" of the 2023 Summer film season.

Dubbed "the world's most glamorous international film festival", Cannes 2023 features hundreds of famous stars, the latest releases and prestigious awards...

This year, there are many special things converging at this major film event. Cannes 2023 will mark the first time that the event will be chaired by a woman - that is Ms. Iris Knobloch (former CEO of WarnerMedia Entertainment Group). This is also the first time that there are 6 female directors competing for the Palme d'Or.

Scott Roxborough, critic of the Hollywood Reporter, commented: "Cannes is not just the biggest, most spectacular event. It is completely superior in every way. Basically, the red carpet here is bigger, more splendid than any other red carpet in the world. It also gathers more stars, more blockbusters. In terms of cinematic art, Cannes is also the best film festival in the world. They have tried to combine the most lavish, splendid blockbusters from Hollywood as well as continue to explore the talents of the most exciting new filmmakers from around the world."

The film "Jeanne du Barry" starring Johnny Depp opened this year's Cannes Film Festival. It was followed by a series of highly anticipated films such as "Asteroid City", "Killers of the Flower Moon", "La Chimera", "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny"...

Notably, the list of films competing for the Palme d'Or at Cannes 2023 includes Vietnamese-origin director Tran Anh Hung with his new work "La Passion de Dodin Bouffant". Meanwhile, director Pham Thien An is honored to be the sole representative of Vietnamese cinema to attend the Directors Fortnight program at the Cannes Film Festival 2023 with the film "Inside the Yellow Cocoon Shell". This is also the first feature film of screenwriter and director Pham Thien An.

After taking home the Oscar, veteran star Michelle Yeoh continued to be honored at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival with the Women in Motion 2023 award. This is an individual award within the framework of the Cannes Film Festival, founded in 2015 to honor female artists who have made certain contributions to world cinema.

Before Michelle Yeoh, another Asian actress won this award, Gong Li, in 2019. Experts say that Michelle Yeoh's honor at this year's Cannes Film Festival will have a huge impact on the rise of feminism as well as Asian cinema.
