Recently, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Decision No. 655/QD-TTg, officially recognizing Tam Nong district as meeting new rural standards in 2024. Accordingly, the Deputy Prime Minister assigned the People's Committee of Dong Thap province to be responsible for announcing the Decision and implementing rewards according to regulations. At the same time, he directed the People's Committee of Tam Nong district to continue to maintain and improve the quality of criteria, especially economic and environmental criteria, to ensure sustainability in the process of building new rural areas.

Tam Nong district has completed the new rural criteria. The district has 11/11 communes meeting the new rural standards, of which 3 communes have met the advanced new rural standards, Tram Chim town has completed 9/9 civilized urban criteria. The district has achieved a total of 9/9 criteria and 36/36 targets according to the regulations of the New Rural Development Program. In recent years, the rural appearance of Tam Nong district has changed significantly.
The rural transport system has been invested in and upgraded, with 48 roads being hardened, renewed and expanded. The irrigation system has been invested synchronously, associated with restructuring the agricultural sector, meeting well the production and living needs of the people. In addition, the power grid system has also been improved, ensuring sufficient electricity supply for daily life and production...
The value of agricultural production grows at an average of 5.81% per year, contributing to creating jobs for about 3,000 workers each year and increasing people's income. By 2024, the average income per capita in rural areas of 11 communes will reach 66.28 million VND/person/year. In particular, the district's rural economy has many positive changes. Many new, modern production models associated with environmental protection have been applied, helping farmers reduce costs and increase profits. Economic models of cooperation, production and consumption linkages between farmers, cooperatives and enterprises are increasingly developing, making an important contribution to the development of the rural economy.
Besides agriculture, Tam Nong district also promotes the development of processing industry through the “One Commune One Product” (OCOP) Program. This not only helps to increase the value of local agricultural products but also promotes the industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas.
