On the evening of May 31, Mr. Le Viet Binh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hong Loc Commune (Loc Ha District, Ha Tinh Province) said that a forest fire had broken out in the commune. Hundreds of people, including functional forces, local authorities and residents, made efforts to promptly extinguish the fire.

According to initial information, at around 12:30 p.m. on May 31, people discovered a forest fire with billowing smoke starting to break out in the Dong No mountain area (in Thuong Phu village, Hong Loc commune), so they reported it to local authorities.
Immediately after receiving the news, local authorities quickly notified and mobilized about 150 people including commune officials, organizations, and people in the area and surrounding areas to quickly go to the scene to put out the fire.
This is an area of acacia plantation and regenerated eucalyptus forest spread over the area of Thuong Phu, Quan Nam, and Truong An villages, which has been assigned to the people and community for management.

At the same time, functional forces including: Loc Ha District Police, Border Guard, District Military Command, District Forest Protection Department and other supporting forces quickly mobilized hundreds of people with full equipment and vehicles to the scene to participate in fighting the forest fire.
Leaders of Loc Ha district were also present at the scene to encourage and direct the functional forces to deploy fire extinguishing work, preventing it from spreading widely.

The fire occurred in a high location, with complex mountainous terrain, thick vegetation, strong winds, and extremely hot weather, making it difficult to approach and extinguish the fire. However, with the efforts of local authorities, functional forces, and people, the fire was promptly controlled and extinguished.
The fire fighting process was carried out synchronously, promptly, effectively and ensured safety in all aspects. After extinguishing the fire, the local government arranged for the police and militia to continue to stand guard to prevent the risk of the fire from re-igniting.

On the same evening, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Man, Head of the Loc Ha District Forest Protection Department, said that by nearly 5 p.m. the same day, the authorities and local people had controlled and extinguished the forest fire. The burnt forest area, including acacia and eucalyptus trees, which had been regenerated for about 2-3 years, had been assigned to households and the village community for management.
On the morning of June 1, the District Forest Protection Department will continue to coordinate with Loc Ha District Police, Commune Police, local authorities and forest owners to examine and inspect the scene, measure the area, calculate the extent of damage to different types of forests, and at the same time find out the cause of the fire.
