The successful implementation of the 1 million hectare high-quality rice project requires strong participation from the private sector, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and domestic and foreign experts.

The Government has just approved the Project "Sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030". |
At the seminar "Public-private partnership to promote innovation and implement the project of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice" on January 30, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan said that in order to effectively implement the project of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice, it is necessary to promote the role of relevant parties and actors in the rice chain. At the same time, the action plan and implementation of the project of 1 million hectares of rice in the Mekong Delta as well as priority actions in the short and long term will be agreed upon.
Currently, agriculture, farmers, and rural areas are identified by the leaders of the Party, State, and Government of Vietnam as "national advantages and pillars of the economy". In which, rice production is a key production sector, not only helping to ensure national food security but also supporting the country's economic development as well as demonstrating Vietnam's responsibility in ensuring the international food system. Vietnam is one of the largest rice producing and exporting countries in the world. The position of Vietnam's rice industry is being consolidated and enhanced.
To implement the Project to develop 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice, Vietnam needs to mobilize resources and technical advances. One of the important tools is the "Food and Food Innovation Network" in Vietnam, established under the initiative of the World Economic Forum, with the goal of linking domestic and international innovation networks to promote the use of digital technology to develop smart agricultural value chains.
Minister Le Minh Hoan affirmed that the food and food innovation network will help expand the scale and accelerate the transformation process of Vietnam's agricultural sector in particular and the economy in general to become a "green", sustainable and low-emission agricultural and food powerhouse. The rice industry is prioritized as a typical example when implementing the food and food innovation network in Vietnam.
According to Minister Le Minh Hoan, in addition to the efforts of the Vietnamese Government in developing policies and creating a favorable environment for development, Vietnam also highly values the role of private enterprises, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, domestic and foreign experts... in developing green and sustainable agriculture. In particular, effective public-private cooperation and support from partners will be the key to the project's success.
In the context that the Vietnamese rice industry is facing many challenges, difficulties and requirements for transformation, Minister Le Minh Hoan emphasized that the agricultural sector needs to mobilize resources and technical advances, one of the important tools is the Food Innovation Network in Vietnam (FIHV) established under the initiative of the World Economic Forum (WEF).
FIHV aims to connect domestic and international innovation networks to promote the use of digital technology to develop smart agricultural value chains. The Minister expressed his hope that FIHV will help scale up and accelerate the transformation of Vietnam's agricultural sector in particular and the economy in general to become a "green", sustainable and low-emission agricultural food powerhouse.
The position of Vietnam's rice industry is being consolidated and enhanced more than ever, not only from impressive figures in output and export value but also reflected in the positive feedback from world consumers about Vietnamese rice. Rice is one of the industries with large export turnover, in 2023 Vietnam's rice exports reached more than 8.1 million tons, with a turnover of nearly 4.7 billion USD.
