In order to contribute to maintaining the good implementation of environmental criteria in building advanced new rural communes, and at the same time to create a bright, green, clean and beautiful appearance on the roads, on February 15, 2025, the Party Committee and People's Committee of Thanh Tri commune, Go Cong Tay district (Tien Giang province) organized a campaign to clean up the environment and take care of the flower road, a highlight of Thanh Tri commune.

At the launch, about 30 cadres, civil servants, commune officials, union members, members of mass organizations, hamlets, and residential areas in Thanh Tri commune simultaneously participated in cleaning the environment with activities such as: clearing bushes, weeds, pruning trees that obscure the view, collecting garbage...
In particular, officials and people filled the soil, trimmed and cared for the rows of yellow-flowered Royal Poinciana trees on District Road 16, from the New Rural Commune welcome gate to the commune People's Committee center so that the trees could grow well, maintaining the new rural flower road, becoming a highlight of the advanced new rural commune.
After a period of implementing a general environmental sanitation campaign in the area, more than 3 km of central and main roads of the commune were cleaned, and bushes along the roads were neatly trimmed and cleared.
At the launch, officials of the Commune People's Committee, members of departments, branches and organizations such as the Veterans Association, Farmers' Association, Women's Association of Thanh Tri Commune and people in residential areas joined forces to clean up, clear bushes, collect and treat waste on all rural roads...In particular, officials and people collected all the waste at the pesticide packaging pits, creating a clean and airy look on both sides of the road, completely free of waste.

The goal of launching a general environmental sanitation campaign not only contributes practically to improving and enhancing the quality of living environment for people in the commune, but also promotes propaganda work to create changes in awareness and actions of each person on environmental sanitation work in building advanced new rural areas.Environmental sanitation also creates a new look, a green, clean, and beautiful landscape, especially at a time when the district is mobilizing communes to actively promote environmental sanitation, contributing to building a new, improved rural appearance in the area under their management.
Cleaning up the environment, collecting garbage on both sides of the road, clearing bushes, and educating people about waste classification and treatment at source are regular activities of Thanh Tri commune every Saturday and weekend.
The campaign to clean up the environment of the commune has contributed to calling on people to raise awareness of environmental protection and successfully complete criterion No. 17 on the environment in building the commune to meet the standards of an advanced new rural commune by 2025.
It is known that Thanh Tri commune is one of two communes, along with Yen Luong commune, in the roadmap for launching an advanced new rural commune in 2025 of Go Cong Tay district, Tien Giang province.Up to now, Thanh Tri commune has reviewed and self-assessed that it has achieved 11/19 advanced new rural criteria, corresponding to 63/75 targets.
The criteria that have not been met include: traffic, education, planning, income, production form, environment, culture. Currently, the average income per capita of the commune is nearly 69 million VND/person/year...
To complete the plan to build and launch an advanced NTM commune, in the past time, the Steering Committee of Thanh Tri commune has directed the consolidation and improvement of the achieved criteria, proposed specific solutions, assigned members in charge of each criterion to strive to complete 19/19 criteria to launch a commune that meets advanced NTM standards according to the planned roadmap.
Accordingly, the commune focuses on propaganda work, mobilizing people to actively participate in environmental protection, planting flowers and trees on the roads, implementing good production development, and increasing average income.
In addition, the commune also focuses on mobilizing and propagating people to raise their awareness of self-implementing the classification and treatment at the source, mobilizing people to sign contracts for garbage collection, households with conditions to treat organic waste continue to treat it themselves by burying it in a pit, composting it or using other hygienic solutions to take advantage of the amount of self-composted organic waste as fertilizer for crops...
The commune encourages people not to plant elephant grass that obscures the view, and actively plant more trees to create shade and beauty on traffic routes, hamlet headquarters, commune People's Committee headquarters, and commune Cultural House.
Up to now, almost 100% of hamlet headquarters have been kept clean and hygienic, with flowers and fresh green trees planted... The commune plans to strive to reach the goal of launching an advanced NTM commune according to the district's roadmap in 2025.
