For by-products, the price of by-products fluctuates from 5,550-7,300 VND/kg. Currently, the price of fragrant rice bran fluctuates at 7,100-7,300 VND/kg; rice bran 3-4 increased to 6,600-6,700 VND/kg; the price of dry bran fluctuates at 5,550-5,700 VND/kg compared to the weekend.

Recorded in localities today, the quantity is small, the price of rice of all kinds fluctuates little, buying and selling transactions are slow. In Lap Vo (Dong Thap), the quantity is small, the price is stable. In Sa Dec (Dong Thap), the price of rice of all kinds is stable.

In the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices today remained unchanged compared to the end of the week. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), currently 5% standard rice is at 389 USD/ton; 25% broken rice is at 364 USD/ton; 100% broken rice is at 307 USD/ton.

According to the latest information from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Ministry of Industry and Trade in February 2025, Vietnam exported about 560,000 tons of rice with a value of 288.2 million USD. Thereby, bringing the total volume and value of rice exports in the first two months of 2025 to 1.1 million tons and 613 million USD, up 5.9% in volume, but down 13.6% in value compared to the same period in 2024.

According to the two ministries, in contrast to the situation last year, domestic rice prices and export rice prices have continuously decreased from the end of 2024 to around the end of February 2025. The main reason for the current decline in export rice prices is that India has loosened its rice export restrictions after 2 years of tightening, causing Vietnam's rice export market to compete with rice products from this country.

Meanwhile, rice import demand from major markets such as the Philippines and Indonesia is also decreasing and slowing down, as these countries have accumulated enough reserves in 2024 and are waiting for prices to drop further before re-importing.

Agricultural experts believe that the world rice market has just gone through a period of slow trading compared to the annual cycle. The reversal of domestic rice prices and export rice prices from the end of 2024 is considered to be due to oversupply in the market.

In early March, rice export prices continued to fall sharply, to only: 307-364 USD per ton. Major markets such as the Philippines, Ivory Coast and Ghana are still the main customers of Vietnamese rice. Compared to the same period last year, the value of rice exports in January 2025 to the Philippines market decreased by 35.5%, while the Ivory Coast market increased by 8.6 times, and the Ghana market increased by 4.1 times.

Experts say that in order to improve capacity and export value, the domestic rice industry needs to organize production well, ensure rice quality; as well as product branding, maintain orders and maintain export markets. At the same time, the rice industry needs to proactively develop export plans in accordance with fluctuating market conditions.
