Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung said that in the current digital era, network information security is not only a challenge but also the foundation for sustainable development.

Technological advances are changing the way people live, work and connect, but with them come increasingly sophisticated risks to face.

In the first 9 months of 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Data Center recorded 57,586,971 information security incidents. Accordingly, 768,325 were policy violations, 56,811,589 were information gathering attacks, and 7,057 were malware infection and dissemination attacks.

Regarding the protection of terminal devices at agencies and units in the city in the first 9 months of 2024, the center recorded on the city's centralized anti-malware management system a total of 63,137 times of attack prevention (including password information mining attacks: 315 times, security vulnerability exploitation attacks: 62,822 times); the total number of malware detected and blocked on the entire system was 209,312 malware; the most recorded types of malware were Virus.Win32.Sality.l (111,723 times), HEUR:Virus.Win32.Slugin.gen (19,466 times) and HEUR:Trojan.Win32.Generic (4,050 times).

According to Mr. Chung, the main goal of this exercise is to improve capacity and skills in responding to network security situations.

Through the program, the Organizing Committee expects the participating teams to not only improve their expertise but also practice coordination and handling of real-life incidents.

This is also an opportunity for us to detect and strengthen weaknesses in the system including: technology, processes, and people - key factors that determine the security level of any information system.
