On March 1, the Youth Union of the Ho Chi Minh City Technical Infrastructure Management Center, Ho Chi Minh City Urban Drainage Company Limited - Drainage Branch No. 6, Binh Tan District Youth Union, Binh Hung Hoa Ward Youth Union (Binh Tan District) together with local people cleaned and cleared the flow of the 19-5 canal.
At Canal 19-5 (through Binh Hung Hoa Ward, Binh Tan District and Son Ky Ward, Tan Phu District), units, organizations and people collected about 7 tons of garbage, mostly household waste.

Mr. Huynh Minh Nhat - Secretary of the Youth Union of Binh Hung Hoa Ward (Binh Tan District) - said that recently, according to the people's feedback, the 19-5 canal has accumulated garbage. The ward's Youth Union coordinated with the District Youth Union, Ho Chi Minh City Urban Drainage One Member Co., Ltd. - Drainage Branch No. 6, and related units to organize a campaign to clean up the canal.
"About 100 people participated, including the response of local people to join hands to clean and clear the canal.
This is one of the contents established by the Ward Youth Union to carry out the campaign to respond to Youth Month 2025.
The ward delegation also determined to continue to develop a plan to mobilize people on both sides of the canal to be aware of the issue of throwing garbage in the right place, avoiding cases of throwing garbage along the canal and letting the garbage fall into the canal, causing congestion in the future" - Mr. Nhat informed.
Previously, on February 20, Tuoi Tre Online recorded that on channel 19-5 (section through Binh Hung Hoa ward, Binh Tan district and section through Son Ky ward, Tan Phu district) there was a lot of accumulated garbage, mostly household garbage.
On February 22, a group of workers from the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Drainage Company, along with a crane and a garbage compactor, collected more than 6 tons of garbage accumulated on the 19-5 canal (section through Son Ky ward, Tan Phu district).
