The National Press Festival, held annually, has become a cultural beauty of the press every time Tet comes and spring comes. The Press Festival with many diverse activities and events aims to highlight the great achievements and strong development of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press, while promoting press products associated with the labor and creative activities of journalists throughout the country.
This is also an opportunity to enhance exchanges and meetings between journalists and the public, thereby encouraging the press to perform well its functions and tasks to meet the increasing information needs of the people, and enhance the prestige of the press in social life.
Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi spoke to the press at a press conference providing information about the 2024 National Press Festival.
| The Opening Ceremony of the 2024 National Press Festival will take place at 8:00 a.m. on March 15, 2024, with the participation of Party and State leaders, leaders of news agencies, press agencies, members, journalists and the public nationwide. The 2024 National Press Festival, held for the first time in Ho Chi Minh City, promises to bring a fresh spirit and excitement to the press and the public.
Referring to the scale of this year's event, Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association said that the 2024 National Press Festival brings together nearly 300 central and local press agencies, all levels of the Vietnam Journalists Association in 63 provinces and cities across the country. With an impressive display area on the history of Vietnamese journalism; 8 special exhibition booths of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Vietnam Television, Voice of Vietnam, Vietnam News Agency, Military Press Bloc, Public Security Press Bloc, Government Electronic Information Portal, National Assembly Office and 112 special press exhibition booths of newspapers and magazines from popular to specialized, covering all aspects of economic, political, cultural, social, national defense, security, and foreign affairs.
According to Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi, after many years of organizing in Hanoi, the leaders of the Vietnam Journalists Association decided to move the 2024 National Press Festival to Ho Chi Minh City with the hope of creating a new vitality for the Press Festival. This is also an opportunity for press agencies in the Northern region to approach and learn about the actual situation of localities in the Southern region - an area with vibrant socio-economic development.
“Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the southern provinces in general are places where many outstanding press activities take place with a large number of journalists. This year's National Press Festival will create a playground for the Association's organizations as well as press agencies in the southern region to showcase their strengths, demonstrating the power of the southern press and the whole country" - Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi shared.
The Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association said that organizing this year's Press Festival in the city named after Uncle Ho is not only the effort of the leaders of the Vietnam Journalists Association and the press community, but also the goodwill and desire of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and People's Committee in organizing a major press event for the press. Ho Chi Minh City is also a place with full facilities and resources for the Vietnam Journalists Association to organize the largest-ever National Press Festival.
“The organization of the National Press Festival in Ho Chi Minh City encountered some difficulties in terms of funding, however, with the determination of the Association's leaders, the enthusiastic response with the spirit of excitement, even excitement of the Association's organizations nationwide, the support of the State, of businesses associated with the press; especially with the facilitation in all aspects of the Party Committee, the government and the people of Ho Chi Minh City, the enthusiastic and effective support of the departments and branches of Ho Chi Minh City, the National Press Festival in 2024 will certainly be successfully organized and bring many emotions to the public" - the Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association expressed his confidence.
Highlights on the professionalism and modernity of Vietnamese journalism
The Vietnamese Revolutionary Press is 99 years old. The revolution is about pioneering and taking the lead. The press has always been like that and will have to be even more like that as the country wants to take advantage of the opportunities of the fourth industrial revolution and has less than 25 years to break through to become a developed country with high income. The Party and State leaders always emphasize the especially important role of the country's press in the overall development of the country.
In the rapidly developing digital age, the press industry has undergone significant transformation to adapt to changes in the way people consume information. New trends in the press industry have emerged and impacted the way we collect, produce and consume news. In that spirit, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi said that the 2024 National Press Festival with the theme "Vietnamese Press - Pioneering, Innovating for the Revolutionary Cause of the Party and People" will be a highlight of the professionalism and modernity of the Vietnamese press, bearing the mark of quality and scale of professional activities, exhibitions and displays, as well as unique cultural and artistic programs.
“This edition of the Press Festival not only expands its scale compared to previous editions, but also changes its organizational method, aiming for effective and modern journalism. Press products must be displayed in a more diverse and attractive manner, and professional discussions must be carefully prepared and implemented more elaborately, directly meeting the development needs of press agencies...” - Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi emphasized.
The highlight of the 2024 National Press Conference is the first National Press Forum held for two days, March 15 - 16. With large-scale professional activities, along with the participation of more than 60 speakers who are experienced journalists, leaders of leading press agencies in Vietnam, and prestigious international press experts.
During the two days of organization, the National Press Forum 2024 will have up to 12 sessions, including 10 discussion sessions, on hot topics of interest to the press, aiming at the goal of building increasingly strong Vietnamese press agencies.
There are 10 discussion sessions on many innovative issues, enhancing the creativity and attractiveness of journalism that are of most interest today such as "Data journalism and Outstanding content strategy"; "Investment and effective application of technology in newsrooms"; "Dynamic broadcasting in the digital environment"; "Intellectual property rights of television works in the AI world"; "Protecting press copyright in the digital environment"; "Effective cooperation model between press, businesses and advertising agencies", "Diversifying revenue sources for press agencies"...
In addition, the Forum also had many in-depth discussions on ideological orientation, professional ethics, and improving journalistic culture for journalists such as: "Enhancing Party spirit and orientation in journalistic activities"; "Building a cultural environment for journalism"...
In addition to the National Press Forum, the National Press Festival 2024 also brings to the public, members and journalists many rich and attractive professional and cultural events such as: The 3rd Journalists & Public Opinion Cup Football Tournament; Awarding of Awards such as: "Beautiful Tet Newspaper Cover", "Impressive Tet Electronic Newspaper Interface", "Impressive TV and Radio Program", "Beautiful Press Exhibition Booth"... In particular, the National Press Forum is large-scale, with the participation of many leaders of press agencies and a number of domestic and international speakers taking place in parallel with the programs of the Press Festival.
“Preparations for the 2024 National Press Festival are being carried out urgently and elaborately. We expect the 2024 National Press Festival to achieve all its set goals, creating a new milestone in the organization of the National Press Festival, creating a premise for organizing the following year's Press Festivals in a more creative, larger scale, and higher quality manner, meeting the expectations of the press nationwide,” said Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi.
