On the morning of March 17, in Ho Chi Minh City, the 2024 National Press Festival with the theme "Vietnamese Press - Pioneering and innovating for the revolutionary cause of the Party and People" closed after 3 days of exciting and enthusiastic activities.

SPREADING THE SPIRIT OF INNOVATION AND CREATIVITY TO ALL REGIONS OF THE COUNTRY

Speaking at the closing ceremony, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia congratulated the success of the 2024 National Press Festival, and affirmed that the Press Festival has spread the spirit and power of press innovation to all regions, from border to island, from urban to rural areas, creating new creative motivation for journalists nationwide.

He noted that 2024 is a very important year in implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and towards the 14th National Party Congress, the year to celebrate many important events of the country; along with that is the completion of amending and supplementing the Press Law and the preliminary review of 5 years of implementing the Government's National Press Development and Management Plan.

He expressed his hope that press agencies should focus on promoting the implementation of economic-cultural-social development tasks this year; closely following the breath of life to reflect, contribute ideas, create and spread good and humane values in society; bring policies and laws into life, meeting the expectations of all people.

Press agencies need to continue to promote digital transformation, apply modern technology, pay attention to investing, upgrading equipment and facilities, and regularly innovate and create in producing and broadcasting programs, news and articles.

Press agencies must strengthen the work of building a clean and strong Party; constantly foster and improve the political capacity, educate revolutionary ethics and professional skills for journalists; and be more determined to build each press agency into a typical cultural agency.

Heads of press agencies and magazines need to enhance their roles and responsibilities within their duties and powers, especially in implementing legal regulations on the press, especially better implementing the principles and objectives; have solutions to strictly manage and create favorable conditions for reporters and editors to operate in accordance with regulations; scientifically and strictly control the activities of representative offices, resident reporters, and collaborators, ensuring that their activities comply with the provisions of the Press Law and related legal documents.

On the part of the Vietnam Journalists Association, it is necessary to promote the emulation movement to build a cultural press agency and a culture of journalists; organize well the activities of the Council for handling violations of the Code of Professional Ethics for Vietnamese Journalists; strengthen monitoring, supervision, inspection, conclusion and handling of violations of professional ethics and the Code of Conduct for Social Network Use by Vietnamese Journalists.

The association at all levels from the central to local levels continues to innovate political and ideological education. Strengthen the organization of seminars, training courses, fostering and training in modern journalism skills, methods of journalism in the digital environment; propagate, disseminate and educate to improve professional ethics and ways of behaving on social networks for members and journalists nationwide.

For each journalist, it is necessary to have a deeper awareness of their role, position, function, task and noble mission in the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press; constantly cultivate and improve their political qualities, professional ethics, professional qualifications, and technological skills; train their talents and virtues to have “bright eyes, pure hearts, and sharp pens”, worthy of being pioneers on the ideological and cultural front of the Party, State and people.

NATIONAL PRESS CONFERENCE SHOWS THE SPIRIT OF SOLIDARITY BETWEEN THE JOURNALISTS AND THE PEOPLE

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Press Festival, Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association and Head of the Organizing Committee of the 2024 National Press Festival, said that this was the first time the National Press Festival had been held in the south of the country, with the largest scale and stature ever. Despite many difficulties and challenges in the organization, with the determination to innovate and the active support and coordination of agencies, units and all levels of the Journalists Association, the festival of journalists nationwide was a great success.

Comrade Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, delivered a speech summarizing activities at the 2024 National Press Conference.

The press conference attracted 120 booths displaying typical press products from 63 provincial and municipal Journalists Associations, more than 300 central and local press agencies, and journalism training institutions. This was truly a unique cultural and spiritual gathering of journalists nationwide.

This is also the first time that 64 OCOP product booths from provinces and centrally-run cities with their own local identities have participated, bringing more richness and liveliness to the Press Fair. This shows the attraction and role of the press in promoting economic development.

The Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association affirmed: The 2024 National Press Festival has brought the public and journalists-members many high-quality professional activities.

In particular, the National Press Forum was held for the first time with the participation of more than 60 speakers who are experienced domestic journalists and prestigious media experts, focusing on hot and urgent topics that Vietnamese press theory and practice need to identify and find solutions for, such as: Enhancing Party spirit and orientation in press activities; Data journalism and outstanding content strategy; Competitiveness of television in the AI era; Dynamic broadcasting in the digital environment; Effective cooperation models between press, businesses and advertising agencies...;

In addition, cultural and artistic programs of students of journalism universities with the theme "Vietnamese Youth - Hung Cuong Aspiration", Football Tournament of the Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper Cup... along with elaborate and unique art programs of the Center for Performing Arts and Cinema of Ho Chi Minh City added more color to the Festival.

According to him, the success of this year's National Press Festival clearly demonstrates the results of the spirit of solidarity among press agencies, press management and leadership agencies; among all levels of the Journalists' Association; and between the press, businesses and the public.

"We join hands and unite to promote innovation in journalism, seize opportunities, and work together to overcome difficulties and challenges, moving towards a modern, professional, and humane journalism, to serve the country and the people better and better. That is also the message of this year's National Press Festival: Vietnamese journalism - Pioneering, Innovating for the revolutionary cause of the Party and the people," emphasized comrade Nguyen Duc Loi.

Within the framework of this year's National Press Festival, the Organizing Committee and the Award Council decided to award 11 A prizes, 29 B prizes, 53 C prizes and 88 Encouragement prizes to press agencies in 4 categories: Excellent display booth; Impressive Tet Radio Program; Impressive Tet Television Program; Impressive Tet electronic interface; Impressive Tet newspaper cover.

Specifically, 5 A prizes, 15 B prizes, 26 C prizes and 36 Encouragement prizes were awarded for the category of Excellent Exhibition Booth; 1 A prize, 3 B prizes, 6 C prizes and 5 Encouragement prizes for the category of Impressive Tet Radio Program; 1 A prize, 3 B prizes, 5 C prizes and 9 Encouragement prizes for the category of Impressive Tet Television Program; 1 A prize, 3 B prizes, 6 C prizes and 9 Encouragement prizes for the category of Impressive Tet Electronic Interface; 3 A prizes, 5 B prizes, 10 C prizes, 29 Encouragement prizes for the category of Impressive Tet Newspaper Cover.
