Innovate propaganda methods to ensure "correct, accurate, timely, and attractive"

Speaking at the meeting, journalist Tang Huu Phong, Editor-in-Chief of Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper, emphasized that in recent times, the Vietnamese press in general and Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper in particular have always promoted the Party's spirit and orientation in all their activities. The most obvious manifestation is that the newspaper has proactively and actively promoted the protection of the Party's ideological foundation, fought against erroneous and hostile viewpoints; and actively participated and pioneered in the fight against corruption and negativity.

In particular, Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper not only reflects social life through the fastest and most authentic information on current events, but also plays an effective role in orienting information to the public in a convincing manner.

Journalist Tang Huu Phong, Editor-in-Chief of Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper, spoke at the meeting.

Referring further to Party nature and orientation, journalist Tang Huu Phong stated that, for Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper, Party nature is the fundamental principle and is clearly demonstrated in all activities of the newspaper as well as its publications.

The Party character of Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper is shown in the fact that the newspaper is a pioneer in implementing the goals, ideals and tasks of the Party in general, and of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee in particular; taking Marxism-Leninism as the foundation for its activities; through articles and publications, it both protects the interests of the working class and laboring people, and resolutely fights against hostile thoughts, wrong viewpoints, and negative phenomena...

To maintain and enhance the Party spirit and orientation of Party newspapers, journalist Tang Huu Phong said that it is necessary to further promote the requirement of innovating propaganda methods, and effectively implementing the propaganda goal of "correct, accurate, timely, and attractive". At the same time, it is necessary to always closely follow the reality of life, increase the coverage of the grassroots, grasp multi-dimensional and comprehensive information; focus on training journalists in political theory, ideology, expertise, profession, and state management knowledge so that journalists deeply perceive that journalism is making a revolution, and journalists are pioneers on the ideological and cultural front of the Party.

Enhance the combativeness and pioneering nature of journalism in the ideological field.

According to journalist Ngo Minh Tuan, Editor-in-Chief of the Party Building Magazine, the Party's character in the press is reflected in the fact that through each news and article, readers can feel the correctness, scientific nature, and revolutionary nature of the Party's resolutions; at the same time, through the news and articles published in the press, readers can see bright examples that they can learn from and follow.

Journalist Ngo Minh Tuan, Editor-in-Chief of Party Building Magazine, spoke at the meeting.

Orientation is the direction of press activities that closely follows the leadership and direction of superiors, meeting the requirements of Party committees at all levels in each period. It would be one-sided to think that orientation is only conveying and transferring "directive opinions" from superiors to subordinates. True orientation must be providing complete and truthful information, contributing to building trust (with basis) and action (proactive, voluntary) for the audience.

“Orientation therefore cannot be just one-way from top to bottom, but also from bottom to top, from reality (being perceived) for both top and bottom. There is no forced “orientation”, “tailoring the foot to fit the shoe” when there is a gap between policy and reality, between words and actions, between the painted picture and real life”, journalist Ngo Minh Tuan shared.

The Editor-in-Chief of the Party Building Magazine believes that the orientation and attractiveness of journalism are closely related, complementing and supporting each other. The more correct and profound the orientation, the more vividly and scientifically it is expressed, the stronger the attractiveness and the higher the appeal. On the contrary, the stronger the appeal, the more the journalism attracts the attention of a large number of readers, and more and more readers are eager and looking forward to the issues of newspapers and magazines, the better the effectiveness of propaganda, dissemination, orientation, and bringing the Party's policies, guidelines, and resolutions into life.

Journalist Pham Song Ha, Head of Political-Social Department, Nhan Dan Newspaper moderated the discussion session.

To properly resolve this relationship, the press needs to continue to ensure the orthodoxy, science and accuracy in propagating and disseminating the Party's viewpoints, policies and resolutions. At the same time, it is necessary to always ensure the timeliness and updating of information; enhance the combativeness and pioneering nature of the press in the ideological field; enhance the exchange and discussion on Party building work in the press; have a new and unique approach, with short and concise news articles...

Sharing solutions to enhance Party spirit and orientation in press activities, journalist Ngo Minh Tuan emphasized that press agencies need to do a good job in personnel work and Party building; increase the publication of highly combative articles, contributing to the fight against arguments that deny history and distort the Party's leadership; promote the core role of Party newspapers and magazines in enhancing Party spirit and orientation in press activities...

Use social networks to spread information quickly and accurately to readers.

Sharing his experience in using social networking platforms to convey information to readers, journalist Nguyen Hong Sam, General Director of the Government Electronic Information Portal, Editor-in-Chief of the Government Electronic Newspaper, emphasized the motto of action: Use any tool available to spread information to the largest number of people and international friends as quickly as possible, ensuring the most accurate, effective, focused information, and leading public opinion.

Journalist Nguyen Hong Sam said that the Government Electronic Information Portal focuses on multi-platform communication, including social networking platforms, and considers social networking as a channel to provide "reverse information", "feedback information" and a place to reflect recommendations and suggestions from people and businesses very quickly, thereby quickly having multi-dimensional information to proactively advise and organize the handling of public opinion information, and handle communication crises "early and remotely".

Journalist Nguyen Hong Sam, General Director of the Government Electronic Information Portal, Editor-in-Chief of the Government Electronic Newspaper, spoke at the meeting.

“Social media platforms are an extremely important component of the multi-platform media ecosystem of the Government Portal in the process of digital transformation of journalism, and are extremely useful tools to disseminate accurate, timely, and effective information to serve the direction and administration of the Government and the Prime Minister,” said journalist Nguyen Hong Sam.

To develop a multi-platform media ecosystem, the Government Electronic Information Portal is always aware of and continuously strengthens the "3 pillars" including: First, applying the most advanced technology and techniques in multi-platform media (web platform and social network platform). Second, building and effectively using a team of high-quality human resources both inside and outside the system to serve multi-platform media work. Third, constantly innovating both content and production organization techniques, providing media products to meet the increasingly high requirements of leaders at all levels as well as the constantly increasing needs of readers, in accordance with the "way" of accessing information of each public group on each social network platform and web platform.

Acknowledging the importance of social media platforms in transmitting information, journalist Nguyen Hong Sam also noted that social media has many aspects, both positive and negative. Social media is a useful propaganda tool, but not everything. We still have to rely on mainstream media platforms.

“We refer to information on social networks, use social networks as a propaganda tool, not let social networks lead us. We proactively participate in social networks in a sober and professional manner. If we cannot master the technology, master the skills and be proficient in the regulations of the law and the regulations of the network operators, we should be cautious when participating,” the Editor-in-Chief of Ha Noi Moi Newspaper emphasized.

Party newspapers need to maintain their own identity and renew themselves.

Speaking at the meeting, journalist Nguyen Minh Duc, Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Moi Newspaper, emphasized the extremely important role of the Party press system in propagating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; orienting public opinion, creating consensus and development in the whole society; fighting against "peaceful evolution", criticizing erroneous and hostile viewpoints, and protecting the Party's ideological foundation.

However, according to journalist Nguyen Minh Duc, the Party newspaper is facing challenges in ensuring the task of providing official, timely, and extensive information to all classes of people, especially in the context of increasingly fierce information competition between official press and social networks as well as information competition between press agencies, as well as the negative impact of social networks and other media channels.

Journalist Nguyen Minh Duc, Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Moi Newspaper, spoke at the meeting.

“With the rapid, continuous spread of information every second and the scope of multi-dimensional interactions, a lot of information on social networks is only for the purpose of attracting likes and views, even false, fabricated, having a bad impact, negatively affecting the orientation of public opinion. Under the pressure of competition in speed and efficiency of information between the press and social networks, if journalists are not alert and subjective in the process of controlling information before posting, it is very easy to post inaccurate and unverified information,” journalist Nguyen Minh Duc stated.

According to the Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Moi Newspaper, the Party newspaper system has many advantages in information competition. In the context of explosive, unverified information, with its position, the Party newspaper can completely access the "original" source of information to have exclusive, accurate information, contributing to orienting public opinion...

However, journalist Nguyen Minh Duc believes that, with the rapid development of social networks and other media, Party newspapers cannot monopolize information and cannot only provide what they have. To gain readers and retain readers, Party newspapers must renew themselves, maintain their own identity, and at the same time, improve to quickly meet the information needs when the public's awareness level is increasingly high.

Sharing the experience of Hanoi Moi Newspaper, journalist Nguyen Minh Duc said that innovation must meet the requirements, first of all, timely and accurate reporting - two important criteria that make up the quality of press information; then, improving the skills and expertise of reporters, providing information that is attractive to readers. In addition, the form of presentation must be concise, information must be filtered; the presentation method must be diverse, making it easy for readers to access. In particular, it is necessary to focus on information that has a great impact on the people.

In addition, when it is necessary to propagate major policies, resolutions, and initiatives that are of interest to society, especially when major events such as Party Congresses, National Assembly-People's Council Sessions, elections, etc. take place, Party newspapers must be the leading information channel, leading public opinion. "To do that, information must be the fastest, the number of articles must be the largest and most diverse, and news must be published on multiple platforms. The formation of multimedia reporter teams and groups when working at major events is very necessary at Party newspaper offices," emphasized journalist Nguyen Minh Duc.

Sharing about the orientation and pioneering nature of the Party newspaper on Nhan Dan Newspaper, journalist Ta Quang Dung, Head of the Resident Reporter Management Board, Nhan Dan Newspaper said that in order to specifically propagate the six Resolutions of the Politburo on six socio-economic regions, Nhan Dan Newspaper has published a supplement on the six regions, with columns and pages on current, attractive, unique and rich local issues.
