At the launching ceremony of the Peak Month "For the Poor" and Social Security in 2024, the Organizing Committee awarded more than 16,495 billion VND to support the construction and repair of houses for poor households, near-poor households, single-parent households, disadvantaged households, and households in difficult circumstances in the City whose houses were damaged by Storm No. 3 and floods.
On the evening of October 16, the People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City held the Launching Ceremony of the Peak Month "For the Poor" and Social Security in 2024.

Speaking at the launch of the "For the Poor" and Social Security Peak Month 2024, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City Nguyen Lan Huong, Head of the "For the Poor" Fund Mobilization Committee of Hanoi City affirmed that ensuring social security and implementing the goal of sustainable poverty reduction is a consistent policy of the Party, the State and Hanoi City to improve the quality of life of the people of the capital, contributing to political and social stability, creating momentum for economic development. Along with the policies of the City, the City's Fatherland Front at all levels and its member organizations have implemented many practical activities to care for and support poor households and households in difficult circumstances.

In the first 9 months of 2024, the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels has allocated over 103 billion VND from the "For the Poor" Fund to support the construction and repair of 1,232 solidarity houses. In particular, with the goal of eliminating 100% of dilapidated houses, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City coordinated with the City People's Committee to support the construction and repair of houses for 714 poor households and households in difficult circumstances, practically celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital.
Responding to the call "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide from now until 2025" launched by the Government and the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Party Committee, government and people of the capital have also supported 15 provinces and cities to build 7,140 solidarity houses worth more than 317 billion VND. In addition, the "For the Poor" Fund at all levels of the city has supported production development for 1,634 households, supported 1,818 people to receive medical examination and treatment; 6,589 students from poor and disadvantaged households.
In order to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 (storm Yagi), the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Hanoi city quickly issued an appeal, receiving over 250 billion VND to support people affected by storms and floods; promptly visited and supported people in the capital who suffered losses of over 13,571 billion VND to stabilize their lives and rebuild and repair houses that collapsed, damaged by the storm.
With the spirit of "Hanoi for the whole country, with the whole country", Hanoi has supported 23 provinces, 930 students from the Northern provinces from poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households studying in Hanoi whose families suffered damage from Storm No. 3 with a total amount of 83.99 billion VND and goods and essential necessities worth 1.73 billion VND.

On behalf of the Hanoi City "For the Poor" Fund Mobilization Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City Nguyen Lan Huong called on all levels, sectors, compatriots, soldiers, businesses, organizations, philanthropists, overseas Vietnamese, and international organizations in Vietnam to continue joining hands to help the poor, support the "For the Poor" Fund at all levels and support the City's social security programs in the spirit of "Joining hands for the poor - Leaving no one behind".
“In addition, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels of the City need to coordinate with the authorities, departments, branches, and organizations at the same level to continue promoting propaganda and mobilizing people of all walks of life, agencies, units, businesses, and philanthropists to support the "For the Poor" Fund. Focus on reviewing and grasping the number, situation, and needs of poor households, near-poor households, and families in especially difficult circumstances in the area to develop specific support plans,” suggested Nguyen Lan Huong, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City.
Complete demolition of dilapidated housing
Also at the launching ceremony, the leaders of Hanoi City performed the ceremony to announce "Hanoi completed the program to eliminate degraded housing for poor and near-poor households", congratulating 1,405 poor and near-poor households in the city who have been supported to build and repair houses. At the same time, responding to the call and mobilization of the People's Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City, at the launching ceremony, collectives and individuals registered to support and accompany the work of social security and poverty reduction in the city.
As of tonight, the City's "For the Poor" Fund has received support and registration of support from 326 groups and individuals. Right at the ceremony, the City's Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee received support of 27.6 billion VND from agencies, businesses, units, organizations and individuals. In particular, at the program, the City's "For the Poor" Fund Mobilization Committee announced that it will allocate the City's "For the Poor" Fund to support the purchase of breeding cows, motorbikes, industrial sewing machines, and rice threshing machines for poor and near-poor households. In the face of the severe impacts caused by storm No. 3 in the northern provinces and Hanoi, the City's "Relief" Mobilization Committee will allocate the City's Relief Fund to support the construction and repair of houses for poor, near-poor, single-parent, disadvantaged, and disadvantaged households in the city whose houses were damaged by storm No. 3 and floods with specific support levels.
That is, support for house construction for households whose houses have completely collapsed, washed away: for poor and near-poor households, support 100 million VND/house; for disadvantaged, single-parent, and disadvantaged households, support 80 million VND/house. Support for house repairs: for households whose houses are severely damaged (roof blown off, broken, degraded...), for poor and near-poor households, support 60 million VND/house; for disadvantaged, single-parent, and disadvantaged households, support 40 million VND/house. For households whose houses are damaged (walls cracked, flooded...): poor and near-poor households are supported 40 million VND/house; disadvantaged, single-parent, and disadvantaged households are supported 25 million VND/house.
The total support amount this time is 16 billion 495 million VND, which will be allocated to districts and towns to select poor households and households in difficult circumstances, ensuring the correct criteria, publicity, fairness and transparency.
According to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi, as of 9:00 p.m. on October 16, the Hanoi Fund for the Poor had received and registered to donate from 326 groups and individuals with a total amount of VND 27.6 billion. This will be a resource to contribute to the city's poverty reduction and social security goals. In addition to supporting the program tonight, organizations, businesses and all people can continue to support the "For the Poor" Fund and the "Relief" Fund of the City through the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels of the City or directly at the office of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City (No. 29 Ly Thuong Kiet, Hanoi). |
