On the evening of October 19, Buakaw Banchamek faced off against Kouzi Tanaka (Japan) in a 70kg boxing match at the Martial Arts EXPO event in the land of the rising sun. After 3 rounds, due to no knockout, the match ended in a draw. However, according to comments from Japanese fans quoted by Sanook , Buakaw was slightly better in this match when he threw a series of punches at Kouzi Tanaka and pressured the boxer from the land of the rising sun.

Kouzi Tanaka surprised everyone with his provocative statement after his fight with Buakaw Banchamek: “ To all the fighters, I don’t use steroids or anything (referring to fighter Minoru Kimura, who tested positive for a banned substance). I want to lose quickly. Can someone please come here and beat me?”.

" Even Buakaw, who is considered the strongest boxer in the world, can't do anything to me. Now I think only Floyd Mayweather Jr. is left. I want a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr," Kouzi Tanaka declared.

Kouzi Tanaka's statement came as a big surprise to Japanese fans. Before the match, the Japanese boxer attracted attention by smoking a cigar at the press conference and defiantly declaring that he would defeat the Thai boxer.

“There was cigarette smoke in my face and there were a lot of sarcastic comments that the interpreter translated for me, but I didn’t care. I just cared about fighting in the ring,” Buakaw told the Japanese press after his draw with Kouzi Tanaka.

I’m not angry with Kouzi Tanaka because I think he just wanted to get the fans excited and interested in the fight, but I was surprised by what happened. Because it was the first time I saw my opponent come into a press conference and smoke a cigar. I thought Kouzi Tanaka was just acting, but when he was in the ring, he was full of fighting spirit ,” Buakaw added.

Kouzi Tanaka (35 years old) is a famous kickboxer in Japan, who won the ISKA K-1 World Lightweight Championship 2017. During his career, Kouzi Tanaka won 31 out of 51 kickboxing matches. This boxer also had 1 win and 1 loss when he moved to MMA.
