On a dry morning in mid-March, under the typical harsh sunlight of the Southeast region, PV was present at the construction site of the upgrade and expansion of the Vung Tau - Binh Thuan route (DT994). This is an important traffic route connecting many districts and cities of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. When completed, the route will run along the coast from Vung Tau to Binh Thuan.

At the section from Long Son to the QL51 intersection close to the foot of Cay Khe 2 bridge, the road surface has been paved with asphalt, traffic safety signs, directional signs and lighting have been fully installed. Sidewalks and trees have also been completed, creating a spacious appearance for the area.

From Cay Khe 2 Bridge to Cua Lap 2 Bridge, the construction site is equally bustling. Groups of workers are divided into tasks according to each category, one group focuses on building embankments, dredging organic soil, pumping sand and treating weak soil. Meanwhile, another group is grading crushed stone and reinforcing cement concrete for the road surface. The image of hundreds of workers spread out across the construction site, everyone rushing with their tasks, creates a bustling working atmosphere.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tinh, a road roller driver, shared that the current progress of the project is very tight, and the team has to work day and night to ensure completion. "Everyone in the team is clearly assigned, so the construction is smooth and there is no overlap in work," said Mr. Tinh.

Cua Lap 2 Bridge has been closed, and the contractor is currently focusing on completing the bridge deck and auxiliary items. According to a supervising engineer, if the current progress is maintained, combined with favorable weather conditions, Cua Lap 2 Bridge will be completed and put into operation on schedule on April 30.

In addition to the above sections, the project from Trung Thuy high-end resort to National Highway 55 in Binh Chau commune, Xuyen Moc district is also being constructed by the contractor for the road surface, drainage system and Song Lo 2 bridge. In addition, some sections through the center of Xuyen Moc district have also been upgraded and expanded (In the photo, a section of the road goes around the sea, hugging the mountain, looking very beautiful from above).

According to the Specialized Project Management Board (investor of 5 component projects), the Vung Tau - Binh Thuan coastal road has a total length of 76.86km, starting from Road 991B in Phu My City and ending in Binh Chau Commune, Xuyen Moc District. The scale of the project has been upgraded to 6-8 lanes, creating more spacious traffic space for vehicles to pass through. Currently, the output of the component projects has reached over 70% to over 90%.

The existing Highway 994, built about 20 years ago, can no longer meet the growing traffic demand, so upgrading and expanding the entire route, and building a new section from the QL51 intersection to Cua Lap 2 Bridge, will help facilitate traffic and commerce, promote tourism and economic development, etc.

When the component projects are completed, the route will connect Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster with Long Thanh airport and Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway. It will form a backbone traffic route, connecting two famous coastal tourist centers, Vung Tau and Phan Thiet.
