Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon Expressway is a project with an investment capital of more than 20,000 billion VND, the largest among 12 component projects of the North - South Expressway in the East, phase 2021 - 2025, started on January 1, 2023.

With a length of more than 88 km, the project passes through 4 districts and towns of Quang Ngai province and Hoai Nhon town (Binh Dinh). Although the construction organization in the early stages encountered many difficulties, with the efforts and consensus of agencies, units and localities, the project progress has had quite positive changes.

On January 1, according to Thanh Nien reporters, after one year of construction, the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway project has gradually taken shape.
Of which, the Ve River Bridge connecting Mo Duc and Tu Nghia districts (Quang Ngai) is the largest bridge on the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway with a length of 610m, all 134 bored piles have been completed. The contractor has constructed 13/16 foundations, piers, 12/14 piers, 55/105 bridge girders, meeting the schedule.

Among the critical items that have a major impact on the project, the 3 mountain tunnels on the route account for a large proportion, but the construction unit (Deo Ca Group) has completed the opening of both tunnels 1 and 2 ahead of schedule compared to the plan. Tunnel 3, the largest mountain tunnel on the North-South Expressway, was newly built with a length of 3,200m, and has now reached nearly 900m of both tunnels.
The tunnel opening has shortened the time and distance for transporting materials and coordinating human resources to the construction site north of tunnel 3 compared to the plan. Previously, construction had to take the official road around dangerous and unsafe mountains.

Mr. Bui Nhat Hien, Director of the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon Expressway Project Management Board (Project Management Board 2, Ministry of Transport) said that there were times when it seemed that the project's progress would not be achieved as planned, but by the end of 2023, the project's critical path items had basically been achieved and ensured.
"To achieve the results after one year of construction, contractors on the route mobilized 44/45 construction teams with more than 3,050 personnel and 1,161 machines and equipment to organize construction in 3 shifts. Particularly for the tunnel construction category, engineers and workers took turns working continuously 24/24 hours without rest," Mr. Hien informed.
The road surface on the highway gradually took shape.
Representatives of Deo Ca Group identified this as a large project with complex construction work, so before starting the implementation, they had carefully prepared resources of machinery, equipment, human resources, finance, etc. and especially the coordination and collaboration with other contractors in the consortium. Up to now, the output has reached more than 12% of the total volume.
Up to this point, the contractor has completed more than 12% of the total volume.
Mr. Le Thang, Director of Project Management Board 2 (investor) highly appreciated the contractor Deo Ca for implementing the project with determination, working in 3 shifts and 4 shifts. At the same time, there were many creative initiatives in the project construction.
"The results achieved after one year of project implementation are the result of efforts from many sides. In the coming time, Project Management Board 2 and the Deo Ca contractor will continue to implement effective construction measures to ensure shortening the project's progress and soon putting it into service for the people and society," said Mr. Thang.
