On the morning of January 24, the temperature in some areas in Y Ty commune (Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province) dropped to -1 degree Celsius. At the intersection to Phan Can Su village and Phin Ho village, frost appeared and covered the treetops on the mountainside. According to people living in this area, last night ice also appeared but melted quite quickly. This morning crops and trees were seen covered with a thick layer of white ice on the mountainside.
Frost is evident on the green pine needles. This area is located at an altitude of more than 2,000m above sea level, often covered in fog all year round, and the low temperature of -1 degree Celsius has caused ice to appear here. This is also a rare spot in Y Ty commune where ice appears during this cold spell.
Crops and trees on both sides of the road were also covered with a layer of ice. Many tourists who heard the news quickly came to this area to capture the special moments of winter. Ms. Ly So knew that frost had appeared in Y Ty since yesterday afternoon, she invited her friends to admire and take souvenir photos next to the rows of ice-covered trees. Mr. Hung (a local resident) happily held his phone to record every moment of ice clinging to tree branches and bushes along the roadside. Mr. Hung shared that although this is not the first time frost has appeared in Y Ty, every time this phenomenon occurs, he records and takes pictures to share with friends and relatives.
