On the morning of March 20, we were present at the construction site of Nguyen Hoang Street and the Huong River Overpass. All 60 decorative lampposts in the shape of royal parasols on both sides of the Huong River Overpass have been installed. At this time, the Huong River Overpass has been basically completed after 2 years of construction.

Engineer Thai Dinh Dao, Deputy Site Commander of Trung Chinh Company, which is constructing items in the Huong River overpass project, said that all engineers and workers of the company have been working hard day and night to meet the technical traffic opening deadline on March 26.

In order to be ready for the technical traffic opening event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the Homeland, construction units are urgently completing the final stages; including cleaning the cable-stayed system, road surface; and installing additional lighting systems.

Mr. Truong Phuoc Thanh, Director of Thanh Ngan Company Limited - the contractor of the lighting and art system for the Huong River overpass, said: Before installing decorative lamp posts on the Huong River overpass, the investor had carefully calculated from the design stage to the examination and appraisal stage. After completing the design, the company sent the drawings to Hapulico Urban Lighting and Equipment Company Limited for production. This is one of the leading units in Vietnam in the field of manufacturing lighting poles.

“They have also carefully calculated the structure of the lamp posts. In addition, we also coordinated with Da Nang University of Technology to independently examine and evaluate the quality, calculate the column head force, and column structure, so we are completely assured of the storm resistance of this canopy lamp system," Mr. Truong Phuoc Thanh affirmed.

According to relevant agencies, 60 decorative lamp posts in the shape of royal parasols installed on the Perfume River overpass are all cast from galvanized steel and powder coated. The lamp posts are made of steel, so they can withstand all weather conditions very well, almost forever. The lighting system on the bridge is also calculated with many different scenarios depending on the time of day or festival.

"The cable-stayed bridge's lights change color. There is also a lighting system at the foot of the bridge that moves according to the overall scenario. The lanterns are mainly for decoration on the bridge, while in the middle of the bridge there is a lighting system for traffic," Mr. Truong Phuoc Thanh emphasized.

Expressing his opinion on the opinions about the system of decorative lampposts in the style of a royal umbrella on the Perfume River overpass, Researcher Nguyen Xuan Hoa, former Director of the Department of Culture and Information of Thua Thien Hue (formerly) said: Public opinion on social networks is extremely diverse, with hundreds of people having different opinions. Whether the quality is guaranteed or not, we have to ask the technicians, contractors, and construction supervisors.

According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hoa, no one forbids using the idea of ​​the royal parasol to create a system of decorative lampposts on the Huong River overpass. The problem is how to inform and propagate for people to understand, everything has been carefully calculated in terms of technology, supervised, and accepted...

Discussing this issue, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Quyen, Deputy Director of the Hue City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board - the investor of the Nguyen Hoang Street and Huong River overpass project, affirmed: The lamp posts in the shape of royal parasols were all included in the architectural competition documents and were selected. During the implementation process from the architectural documents to the actual construction, all were carried out in accordance with the basic construction procedures. The parasols are made of galvanized steel and stainless steel, calculated by specialized agencies to ensure that they can withstand level 14 storms.

The Perfume River Overpass connects Phu Xuan District and Thuan Hoa District. The starting point of the bridge is on Nguyen Hoang Street, Kim Long Ward (Phu Xuan District), the ending point is on Bui Thi Xuan Street, Phuong Duc Ward (Thuan Hoa District). The bridge has a modern steel arch shape with 6 lanes, including a wide and beautiful pedestrian lane. The total investment capital for the Nguyen Hoang Street and Perfume River Overpass project is over 2,280 billion VND.
