According to Deputy Director of Chau Phu District Culture - Sports and Broadcasting Center Duong Van Trung, the District Farmers' Volleyball Tournament is an annual event, with the purpose of celebrating the Chau Phu District Traditional Cultural Festival, with the participation of 13 teams representing communes and towns across the district. As the host unit, coordinating with Thanh My Tay Commune People's Committee in organizing, Chau Phu District Culture - Sports and Broadcasting Center pays great attention to professional aspects, in order to serve the competition and viewing needs of the people.
“Determining this as a traditional event, all localities have prepared personnel quite seriously, aiming to bring the tournament the best quality lineup. Thanks to that, the competitive atmosphere is attractive, many situations where teams compete for each point, bringing excitement to the audience. In recent times, many localities in the district have invested in volleyball, so the force brought to the tournament is quite even. Although some strong teams from previous years have proven their strength, the professional gap is not far away, most clearly shown by the lack of easy victories, the difference in each match” - Mr. Duong Van Trung analyzed.
Excited after the team's victory, player Nguyen Minh Tu (Thanh My Tay unit) said: "Before this tournament, we practiced every day for months. We have to understand each other in every ball, every move to be able to compete with other units. With the last 2 victories, we dare not be negligent but will continue to strive for the best results."
According to Tu, in a sports match, especially volleyball, in addition to professional skills, the competitive mentality must also be taken into account. If the mentality is not good, handling the ball situation incorrectly will affect the overall result of the match. Therefore, even if the team is considered stronger, it can still lose if it does not maintain a good competitive spirit. Tu and his teammates will concentrate highly, with the goal of achieving the best results in this year's tournament.
Witnessing the players compete, the audience was also extremely excited. They cheered and encouraged their local team or were neutral fans ready to clap for beautiful situations. Mr. Ngo Van Chan (a resident of Dao Huu Canh commune, Chau Phu district) was happy to come to watch the teams compete. Mr. Chan said that when he was young, he loved volleyball and played in the fields after the harvest season. Now over 50 years old, he mainly cheers for his nephews and nieces. “The younger ones now play volleyball very well and enthusiastically. The younger ones are now better in stature than we were in the past, and their skills are also better, so it is very pleasing to watch. I not only cheer for Dao Huu Canh team but any team that competes, whenever I have free time, I come to watch. With these sports tournaments, the Chau Phu District Traditional Cultural Festival is more joyful and exciting” - Mr. Chan sincerely said.
From a professional perspective, the Chau Phu District Farmers' Volleyball Tournament, in addition to the goal of celebrating the Chau Phu District Traditional Cultural Festival in 2025, is also an opportunity for the sports industry to select quality players, ready for provincial tournaments in the coming time. "Currently, we are actively rebuilding the movement, improving the quality of players to regain the top achievements of An Giang province in previous years.
