Hai Phong places high hopes on newly launched logistics projects
Hai Phong City has just started construction on two more logistics warehouse projects from Korean and Japanese investors, which are expected to become important logistics centers in the Northern region.
Logicross Hai Phong is the second project of Mitsubishi Estate Group (Japan) in Vietnam. The project is built on an area of over 150,900 m2 in Nam Dinh Vu Industrial Park, Hai Phong City, with a total investment of 55 million USD. The project is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2025, providing about 86,000 m2 of modern ready-built warehouses, meeting the requirements of EDGE Advanced certification, integrating sustainable features to optimize tenant operating costs and minimize environmental impact.
Logicross Hai Phong is expected to become an important logistics center in the Northern gateway area, serving a variety of goods in many fields. Tenants at Logicross Hai Phong will benefit from a convenient location and the flexibility to choose floor space to suit their business needs, helping to optimize operational efficiency. The project provides enough power capacity to serve automation systems and spacious space for flexible storage.
The next project is Jeil Logistics 1 of Jeil Group (Korea). The project will provide warehousing and storage services, container warehousing services, and warehouse rental for goods storage. The project has a total investment of more than 44.5 million USD, with a land area of nearly 80,000 m2. The project is expected to be operational from the third quarter of 2026.
Representative of Jeli Group, Ms. Kim Eun Sook, Chief Financial Officer, said that Jeil Logistics 1 Project is not just a simple logistics warehouse, but will become the core infrastructure in the supply and distribution chain in Vietnam. With the application of the most modern logistics system and effective supply chain management structure, the Project will provide faster and more accurate logistics services, contributing to reducing logistics costs for businesses, as well as improving competitiveness.
According to the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board, to date, foreign investment in the city has reached nearly 40 billion USD, of which South Korea leads with a total investment capital of 14 billion USD (111 projects). The achievements of South Korean investors in Hai Phong show that the city is an attractive destination, suitable for investment and business activities.
These two projects, when put into operation, are expected to become important logistics centers in the Northern gateway area, serving a variety of goods in many fields, thereby contributing to maximizing the potential, strengths and economic development orientation of Hai Phong City.
Mr. Le Trung Kien, Head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board, said that Hai Phong identifies logistics centers as projects that are driving forces for economic development, so in addition to budget capital, it will call for investors to participate in investing in the construction of regional and provincial logistics centers.
Accordingly, in the 2021-2025 period, the total investment capital for the construction of logistics centers is VND9,000 billion, including VND1,625 billion of budget capital and the remaining VND7,375 billion of non-budget capital. In the 2026-2030 period, the total investment capital is VND4,500 billion, including VND900 billion of budget capital and VND3,600 billion of non-budget capital.
Hai Phong expects that in the period of 2026 - 2030, more than 140 million tons of goods will be passed through logistics centers each year. Logistics centers are expected to, along with other marine economic sectors, soon turn Hai Phong into a green, civilized, and modern port city.
Hai Phong aims to become a modern international logistics center by 2030, ensuring a growth rate of logistics services of about 30-35%/year, contributing 25-30% to the city's GDP. To achieve this goal, Hai Phong City has identified breakthrough investments in its strengths such as seaports - logistics, tourism - trade.
In particular, planning the logistics center network in a synchronous direction, reasonably linked with the planning of trade, industry and transport system development to ensure the development of high-quality logistics services, meeting the needs of high growth and integration.
