(NLDO) - Two Deputy Directors of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Binh Thuan and a Deputy Head of Department were temporarily suspended from work related to the incident at Hung Thinh Company.
On February 8, sources said that Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DONRE) of Binh Thuan province, Cao Son Dung, signed a decision to temporarily suspend the work of two Deputy Directors of the department related to the investigation by the Ministry of Public Security at Hung Thinh Zirconium and Titanium Production Joint Stock Company (Hung Thinh Company).
Accordingly, two Deputy Directors, Ms. Phan Thi Xuan Thu and Mr. Ngo Minh Thanh, and Mr. Le Trung Khanh - Deputy Head of the Department of Water Resources and Minerals, have been temporarily suspended from work.
All three of the above-mentioned officers were temporarily suspended from work because the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency issued a decision to prosecute the accused and an order prohibiting them from leaving their place of residence from January 14, 2025.

Three officials of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Binh Thuan are said to be involved in a case of violating regulations on resource exploitation and a number of other crimes, occurring at Hung Thinh Company and related units that the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency is investigating.
Previously, in early November 2024, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency coordinated with Binh Thuan Police to urgently search Hung Thinh Zirconium and Titanium Production Joint Stock Company.
It was determined that Hung Thinh Company had exploited titanium many times in excess of the reserves and capacity according to the mineral exploitation license granted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment; exploited and sold raw titanium ore without processing, causing especially large losses and waste of mineral resources and tax money for the State budget.
After that, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency initiated a criminal case of Violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences; Violating regulations on research, exploration, and exploitation of resources, occurring at Hung Thinh Company and related units. At the same time, prosecuted and applied preventive measures against 9 defendants.
In particular, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency prosecuted Phan Thanh Muon, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hung Thinh Company, for two crimes of violating regulations on resource exploitation and violating regulations on accounting causing serious consequences.
