In order to continue preserving and promoting the value of the relic, the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province issued Decision No. 474/QD-UBND dated March 4, 2025, recognizing Phan Dinh Giot Memorial House as a provincial historical relic, creating a basis for the locality to pay more attention to the work of preserving and promoting the value of the heritage.
Phan Dinh Giot Memorial House is located in Vinh Phu village, Cam Quan commune, Cam Xuyen district, Ha Tinh province. The memorial house is located in a closed area including a gate, yard, memorial house, traditional house and votive burning house. The memorial house is 58m² wide, with 2 floors, 8 roofs, and traditional wooden structure. Inside there are 3 worship rooms, the main room worships Hero Phan Dinh Giot, above which hangs the inscription "Sacrificing for the country". The traditional house is 75m² wide, preserving documents and artifacts about his life and career, notably the statue simulating the image of him using his body to fill the loophole. The project not only has profound historical significance but is also a place to educate the younger generation about patriotism.
Phan Dinh Giot was born in 1922 in Vinh Yen village (now village 8), Cam Quan commune, Cam Xuyen district, Ha Tinh province. Born into a poor farming family, he joined the revolution early and joined the Vietnam People's Army in 1950. Through many major campaigns such as Trung Du, Hoa Binh, Tay Bac, he always showed brave fighting spirit and excellently completed his tasks.
On March 13, 1954, in the battle of Him Lam stronghold that opened the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, Phan Dinh Giot was wounded many times but still fought steadfastly. When he saw the enemy fire from bunker number 3 causing great losses to our army, he bravely threw himself into the trench to fill the loophole, helping his comrades charge forward to destroy the stronghold. His heroic actions have become an immortal symbol of Vietnamese revolutionary heroism.
In 1955, Phan Dinh Giot was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the State. His name was given to many streets and schools across the country as a tribute to the brave soldier who sacrificed his life for the Fatherland.
Phan Dinh Giot Memorial House is ranked as a provincial historical relic, creating an important premise for the locality to promote the conservation, honor and promotion of heritage values in a sustainable manner, while contributing to affirming the cultural and historical values of the project.
