After only 5 years of putting into operation the key transport chain (airport, international port, expressway, etc.), Quang Ninh has become the province with the fastest developing transport infrastructure in the country. Transport works have played a leading role, an important driving force for the province to continuously reap successes in development.
After nearly 40 years of innovation with the country, the role and position of Quang Ninh have never been affirmed as strongly as they are today. Quang Ninh is not only known as a leading province in innovation; a growth pole in the Northern region with 9 consecutive years of double-digit growth, an economic scale of 315 billion VND (among the top 7 provinces in the country), a center for attracting FDI capital with a total capital attracted in 2023 reaching over 3.1 billion USD...; but also an international tourism center, the province with the best traffic infrastructure in the country, the province with the 5th highest urbanization rate in the country; GRDP per capita is expected to reach 10,000 USD by the end of 2024...
Those successes are the inheritance of achievements of many generations, shaping the province's development thinking according to the motto "global vision, local action". The province always identifies transportation as the lifeblood of the economy, synchronous transportation will meet the needs of transporting goods and passengers, creating outstanding advantages for development... Therefore, the province has soon identified the contradictions, challenges, and "bottlenecks" to find ways to remove them. In 2019, Quang Ninh opened all 3 "doors" connecting to the world: airports, seaports, and highways along the province, with synchronous investment, accompanied by modern and classy landscape values for exploitation.
The projects are considered the blood vessels of development when connecting to almost all economic, tourist, industrial and urban centers of the province and internationally in a connected, synchronous system, shortening distance and time, expanding development space. Quang Ninh has become the province with the most diverse, synchronous and fastest development of transport infrastructure in the country in all 3 types: road, air and sea.
Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang affirmed: Quang Ninh has made a strong change in infrastructure, especially transport infrastructure, with policies to attract investment and mobilize social capital for innovation. From social resources, the province has created the most modern works in the country, making history in the Vietnamese transport industry. The province has mobilized large resources, not from the budget, but from solidarity, innovation in thinking, and improvement of the investment environment, to attract capital for development.
With synchronous infrastructure in all 3 types of transportation, traveling and connecting between regions and international to Quang Ninh and vice versa has never been as convenient and fast as it is today. With just 4 hours of flight, investors from Korea and Japan can reach Ha Long. Instead of 3.5 hours from Hanoi to Ha Long, 6 hours to Mong Cai city before, now the travel time is only half as the province owns a 176km long expressway. The route is considered an important backbone, a key traffic route of the whole region, an important driving force to form the expressway axis in the East of Vietnam, stretching from Hanoi to Mong Cai.
Transport infrastructure has made an important contribution to enhancing the province's position, strongly affecting trade, freight transport, tourism development, investment attraction... Because shortening transport distances reduces transportation costs, reduces investment costs, increases profits for businesses... Quang Ninh has quickly received attention from international investors with more than 100 FDI projects implemented in the past 5 years; the number of tourists to the province in 2024 is expected to reach 20 million... This makes Quang Ninh an attractive tourist center; people's lives are improved and enhanced in the direction of happiness.
By 2030, Quang Ninh is determined to build and develop into a rich, beautiful, civilized and modern province; one of the dynamic and comprehensive development centers, an international tourism center, a marine economic center, a gateway to the Northern Key Economic Zone and the whole country; GRDP per capita is more than 15,000 USD/year. By 2045, it will be a modern service and industrial province, a large urban area of regional and international stature, one of the locomotives promoting national economic development; people have income levels equivalent to those of developed countries; harmonious economic development between urban and rural areas...
To achieve this, the province has clearly identified major viewpoints, orientations, key tasks, and breakthroughs. In particular, in addition to the tasks set for each year, the province has completed and had the Government approve the Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050; continued to strongly innovate the growth model, restructure the economy, and transform development methods; synchronously and effectively resolve conflicts and challenges; closely combine rapid and sustainable economic development with cultural and human development; prioritize investment resources for connecting traffic infrastructure, etc.
Quang Ninh today has affirmed its new stature, new appearance, new position. That is the result of the aspirations for constant innovation, of the efforts and consensus of the entire political system and society. In which, the transport infrastructure is the premise, the important foundation, creating momentum for Quang Ninh to develop rapidly and sustainably, gradually realizing the aspiration contained in the connotation of its name: "Quang" means vast, "Ninh" means peaceful and sustainable.
