The Hanoi Department of Transport has just proposed that the City People's Committee prioritize research and immediate implementation of investment preparation for the project to renovate and expand the elevated and low-lying Ring Road 2 (section Nga Tu So - Cau Giay) from now until 2025.

The investment project to renovate and expand the elevated and low-lying Ring Road 2 (section Nga Tu So - Cau Giay) with a cross-section width of 53.5m, length of 3.44km, total estimated investment of 8,500 billion VND.

A year ago (January 2023), Hanoi City opened to traffic the project to build an elevated road along Ring Road 2, from Vinh Tuy Bridge to Nga Tu So, combined with expansion according to the plan.

The Vinh Tuy - Nga Tu So elevated road is over 5km long, with a cross-section of 19m. The project started on April 22, 2018. The total investment for the lower and upper sections is approximately VND 10,000 billion under the BT (build-transfer) form.

Since the opening of Ring Road 2 from Vinh Tuy Bridge to Nga Tu So, traffic congestion along the entire route has improved significantly. However, the intersection of Nga Tu So and Lang Road is often congested, although the transport sector has piloted many traffic diversion plans in 2023.

The entire planned Hanoi Ring Road 2 is over 43km long, with a cross-section of 50-72.5m; it is an inner-city traffic route running through Vinh Tuy - Minh Khai - Nga Tu Vong - Nga Tu So - Lang - Cau Giay - Vo Chi Cong - Truong Sa - Nguyen Van Linh - Vinh Tuy, forming a closed belt.

Currently, 32km of Ring Road 2 has been completed, including 3 large bridges: Nhat Tan, Vinh Tuy, and Dong Tru.
