Hanoi spends 3.4 trillion from regular spending savings to reform wages

The Hanoi People's Committee has just sent the City People's Council a report on the results of anti-corruption work and practicing thrift and combating waste in 2024.

The report clearly stated the results of detecting and handling corruption and violations. Specifically, the Hanoi People's Committee has paid attention to directing the implementation of inspection and examination work to detect, prevent and handle violations in the work of preventing and combating corruption.

According to the report, Hanoi City Police have handled 173 cases, with 497 defendants; resolved 102 cases, with 370 defendants; and are investigating 66 cases, with 90 defendants.

Hanoi People's Court has accepted 86 cases, with 331 defendants; resolved 77 cases, with 291 defendants; is resolving 9 cases, with 40 defendants.

In recent times, the Hanoi People's Committee has always directed units to implement regulations on handling responsibilities of heads of agencies and organizations under their management. During the reporting period, there were 3 cases of heads being handled.

Regarding the results of practicing thrift and fighting waste, in 2024, Hanoi City saved 10% of regular expenditure to implement salary reform of more than 3.4 trillion VND.

Of which, the city level allocates more than 2.2 trillion VND to supplement funds for salary reform implementation for departments and branches; the district level allocates more than 1.1 trillion VND.

Hanoi City also continues to direct units to rearrange and handle cars for work. Hanoi issued a decision to liquidate 118 cars of agencies and units.

Hanoi City has also approved a plan to rearrange and handle 3 housing and land facilities of agencies, units and enterprises under the city; sent people to join an interdisciplinary delegation chaired by the Ministry of Finance to inspect the current status of more than 30 housing and land facilities.

The city has directed the Department of Finance to decide to liquidate more than 16,000 square meters of houses to serve the demolition and site clearance work to build and renovate offices at agencies and units.

According to the Hanoi People's Committee, with the determination in leadership, direction and the drastic participation of the entire political system, the work of preventing corruption, practicing thrift and combating waste has had positive changes and improved quality.

Pensions should be increased for those with low levels of income.

If low-income pensioners are given a larger increase than high-income pensioners, it will have a positive impact, narrowing the current pension gap.

Continue to build Ninh Thuan nuclear power plant, supplement expenditure estimates to increase basic salary

The National Assembly agreed to continue implementing the investment policy for the Ninh Thuan nuclear power project; supplement the 2024 State budget expenditure estimate for ministries, central agencies and localities to increase the basic salary to 2.34 million VND/month.

Why pensions not increased in 2025?

Regarding the implementation of salary policy and some social policies, the National Assembly decided not to increase public sector salaries, pensions, social insurance (SI) benefits, monthly allowances, and preferential allowances for people with meritorious services in 2025.
