Ms. Syahirah Husna and her husband, Mr. Hamizan Rosdi, have been selling Vietnamese spring rolls in Pahang, Malaysia since December 2023.

Both were surprised because the spring rolls attracted a lot of customers right from the first days of opening.

When Ms. Syahirah Husna posted a video of her spring roll stall on social media, more and more customers became aware of this dish and it gradually became a food trend that young Malaysians enthusiastically responded to.

The restaurant owner said that the reason Vietnamese spring rolls are loved by Malaysians is because this is a refreshing, healthy dish that everyone can enjoy.

“Vietnamese spring rolls are highly appreciated for their beautiful appearance and the balance between the nutritional ingredients from vermicelli, meat, shrimp, etc. and green vegetables. Therefore, diners who eat this dish feel light and do not feel bored,” she said.

According to this woman, Vietnamese spring rolls usually have two main ingredients: shrimp and boiled meat. When sold in Malaysia, she and her husband add some ingredients to suit the taste and preferences of the locals.

Currently, Ms. Syahirah Husna and her husband sell up to 12 types of spring rolls such as beef, chicken, shrimp, crab sticks, sausage, salmon, smoked duck, etc. Each roll is tightly rolled, with full noodles, meat and vegetables.

She uses a popular rice paper that comes from Thailand.

The owner also serves two types of Thai-style dipping sauces, green and red, for diners to eat with their spring rolls. The red dipping sauce is made from chili, coriander and spices. The green dipping sauce uses mayonnaise, coriander, fish sauce, etc.

“The green sauce is more popular with customers because it is spicy and fatty,” said Ms. Syahirah Husna.
