Tam Giang Bridge connecting Nui Thanh town with Tam Giang commune has a construction and site clearance cost of 150 billion VND, construction started in 2017, and is expected to be completed in July 2018.
The project's completion time has been adjusted many times, most recently on December 31, 2021, Nui Thanh district extended the project implementation time until the end of 2023. However, up to now, the bridge has been completed but there is no land to build the access road, so the project has not been put into use yet.
According to research, the People's Committee of Nui Thanh district has approved 13 compensation and resettlement support plans for households in Tam Giang commune affected by the project with a total approved budget of more than 24.5 billion VND.
Tam Giang Commune People's Committee coordinated with the Land Fund Development Center and Nui Thanh District Project Management Board to invite households and persuade them to receive money and hand over land for project construction, but many households still did not agree.
For example, Ms. Luong Thi Tinh's household did not agree to receive money and did not hand over the land because the compensation price was low and requested compensation for the land located in the traffic corridor.
For households subject to resettlement, the households request state agencies to commit to the time for granting land use right certificates for the land plots arranged for resettlement in residential area block 2 in Nui Thanh town after the site has just been handed over.
Mr. Pham Van Chau - Chairman of Tam Giang Commune People's Committee said that up to now, through persistent mobilization, most households in the area have received compensation, handed over the land and the authorities are taking steps to build the road leading to Tam Giang bridge.
The People's Committee of Nui Thanh district requested the commune government and the district's functional departments to complete the land acquisition procedures this July to speed up the construction of the access road. If the households do not agree to hand over the land, the land will be forcibly acquired.
“There are 4 households, including those that have received compensation and agreed to resettlement, but are demanding additional compensation for the land within the traffic corridor.
We and the relevant authorities continue to explain and persuade. With the above efforts, we expect to complete the handover of the construction site for the Tam Giang bridge approach road this July," said Mr. Chau.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Thanh - Director of Nui Thanh District Project Management Board said that the bridge section has been completed but the approach road section is being filled with soil and waiting for technical settlement. Waiting for technical settlement took about 7 months and is now almost finished. Regarding the land clearance issue, it is basically resolved.
"At the end of July, after completing the subsidence of the two approaches to the bridge, we will continue construction to soon complete, connect to the bridge and put the project into operation," said Mr. Thanh.
