On August 11, the Ministry of Health sent an official dispatch to the directors of the Department of Health of provinces and cities across the country requesting to strengthen disease prevention work in the context of heavy rain, floods, and landslides occurring in many localities.
The Ministry of Health recommends that localities proactively review and assess the risk of epidemics in areas likely to be affected by natural disasters, especially areas that may be flooded, flash floods, and landslides; be ready and proactively deploy epidemic prevention plans when situations arise; consolidate and maintain mobile anti-epidemic teams to support lower-level units in monitoring and handling epidemics and infectious diseases circulating in conditions of heavy rain, flash floods, floods, and landslides.
In particular, localities need to closely monitor, promptly detect and thoroughly handle outbreaks of infectious diseases occurring before, during and after floods, flash floods, inundation and landslides, especially to prevent diseases transmitted through the digestive tract. At the same time, strengthen propaganda and guide people in areas at risk of being affected by floods, flash floods, inundation and landslides to implement measures to prevent epidemics and environmental sanitation.
