On the afternoon of September 26, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced changes to retail gasoline prices. The effective time will start from 3:00 p.m. the same day.
Accordingly, the regulatory agency decided to increase 680 VND/liter for E5 RON 92 gasoline and 750 VND/liter for RON 95 gasoline. After adjustment, the maximum retail price for E5 RON 92 gasoline is 19,620 VND/liter and RON 95 gasoline is 20,510 VND/liter.
Similarly, oil prices were also adjusted up in today's management period. Specifically, diesel prices increased by VND460/liter, to VND17,500/liter; kerosene prices increased by VND320/liter, to VND17,870/liter; and fuel oil increased to VND15,350/kg. In the management period, the joint ministries maintained that they would not draw from or spend from the Price Stabilization Fund.
Thus, domestic gasoline prices have increased for the second consecutive session after 4 decreases, and this fuel price is still at its lowest level in more than 3 years, equivalent to June 2021. Since the beginning of the year, gasoline prices have increased 19 times and decreased 20 times; diesel has increased 17 times and decreased 20 times.
The room for the petroleum price stabilization fund of some key enterprises still recorded a large positive level because in many recent management periods, the fund was not used. Of which, as of September 26, Petrolimex recorded a positive fund of VND 3,079 billion; PV Oil had a negative fund of more than VND 138 billion; Saigon Petro had a positive fund of VND 328 billion; Petimex had a positive fund of VND 460 billion...
At the meeting on the implementation of total petroleum resources and solutions to ensure petroleum supply on September 18, a number of petroleum traders proposed reducing petroleum imports compared to the total resources allocated for the whole year.
According to the explanation of the enterprises, currently, the demand of the people will basically not have a sudden growth. Meanwhile, many enterprises suffered damage after the storm, some suffered losses due to the sharp decrease in gasoline prices in recent months. Besides, the amount of reserves of enterprises must be guaranteed for 20 days, so balancing is difficult.
On September 24, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed an official dispatch requesting the Minister of Industry and Trade to be responsible for directing key petroleum traders to proactively source goods and provide enough petroleum for the system.
"Absolutely do not interrupt the supply of gasoline in your gasoline distribution system, maintain regular sales activities, and sell at the listed price," the Prime Minister directed.
The Ministry is also required to closely monitor the implementation of the minimum total source of key traders, and at the same time direct and guide the regulation to ensure the balance of supply and demand of gasoline in each locality.
