The investment will be used to provide scholarships for information and communication technology (ICT) students to study Japanese in the country as well as student exchange scholarships in Japan, and to implement Japanese language training and teaching at universities...
Accordingly, in the period from 2024 to 2026, FPT Software will promote cooperation with prestigious universities and Japanese language centers across the country, joining hands to train Japanese for ICT students. The program aims for students to achieve a minimum N3 certificate upon graduation, ready to meet job requirements in the land of the rising sun.
Currently, there are 15 universities and ICT training institutions across the country participating in this program and will continue to expand both the scale of cooperation and the number of schools. Each year, FPT Software plans to award more than 500 scholarships to ICT talents at universities.
Mr. Do Van Khac - CEO of FPT Japan affirmed: “The Japanese government is promoting investment in the field of digital transformation to maintain its position as an economic power. Seizing the opportunity, FPT Japan is constantly developing a team of personnel with strong expertise and Japanese language skills to be ready to take on more complex projects for large Japanese enterprises. In the next 5 years, we need about 20,000 ICT engineers working at the company's campuses in Vietnam and offices in Japan to meet the human resource needs for projects with Japanese customers”.
FPT Software’s investment provides an opportunity for ICT students to quickly master Japanese and take advantage of this to develop their careers. By participating in the program, young people will experience a professional working environment and participate in many high-class projects with leading experts in many fields. At the same time, FPT Software also directly connects ICT talents with large enterprises in Japan that are “thirsty” for human resources.
In addition to bringing foreign language advantages to Vietnam's ICT resources, FPT Software also cooperates with universities and institutes in the industry to support the design and development of training programs that are close to market realities. Thanks to that, ICT resources are equipped with knowledge and skills to best meet the needs of businesses.
Mr. Nguyen Tuan Minh - Human Resources Director of FPT Software shared: “10-15 years ago, FPT Software as well as other Vietnamese ICT companies in Japan focused on human resource development. This has contributed significantly to the success and position of Vietnamese technology enterprises in Japan today. Now, the Japanese ICT market is once again preparing to enter a period of rapid growth, and human resource development is becoming more urgent. To do that, universities play an important role in accompanying businesses to optimize training time and career orientation for students”.
To help students and universities stay ahead of market trends, FPT Software has proactively connected with universities and the ICT community. Notably, in September and October, FPT Software coordinated with the Vietnam - Japan Digital Transformation Association (VADX Japan) to organize a series of seminars on “Japan: A bright spot for ICT human resources in the global context” in 3 cities: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. The series of events had the participation of more than 300 guests, leaders of large companies, representatives of Japanese language schools, and leading ICT universities nationwide.
According to the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the country will lack nearly 800,000 ICT engineers by 2030. To attract high-quality human resources, especially in the ICT industry, the Japanese government has introduced many preferential policies for foreign talents. Recently, the Japanese House of Representatives' Justice Committee passed a bill to create conditions for highly skilled foreign workers to settle down, bring their families to reunite, and work indefinitely in Japan. Vietnamese engineers can also easily receive the Tokutei Ginou specific skills visa with many benefits and long-term residence that Japan is giving high priority to Vietnamese personnel.
