According to a statement by Foreign Minister Wang Yi on August 21, China highly appreciates Iran's correct decision and will help Middle Eastern countries explore a development path that suits each country's own conditions.
At the same time, the official stressed that restoring the integrity and effective implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is the only way to fundamentally resolve Iran's nuclear issue.
Previously, on August 20, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, affirming that Beijing is willing to continue cooperating with Tehran to strongly support issues related to "core interests".
According to Mr. Wang Yi, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi's visit to Beijing in February this year helped the two countries reach important new consensuses on bilateral cooperation, bringing China-Iran relations to a new level.
In addition, the Chinese Foreign Minister also praised the efforts of Iran and Saudi Arabia in resuming and restoring relations after dialogue with Beijing acting as an intermediary last March.
For his part, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian congratulated Wang Yi on his re-appointment as head of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
In addition, praising the progress in strategic cooperation between China and Iran, Mr. Abdollahian commented that the relationship between the two sides is "positive and future-oriented".
