On the afternoon of March 13, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced that central defender Bui Hoang Viet Anh could not continue to accompany the Vietnamese team at the FIFA Days in March.
The reason is because Viet Anh has a recurring knee injury. After 2 days of training with the Vietnam national team, doctors determined that the 1999-born central defender needs appropriate treatment.
Therefore, coach Kim Sang Sik decided to let Bui Hoang Viet Anh return to the Hanoi Police Club (CAHN) for treatment. That same afternoon, Viet Anh did not practice with the team.
This is the first serious injury case to have to say goodbye during this training session. Viet Anh played on March 8 in the match where CAHN drew 1-1 with Thanh Nien Nam Dinh FC in round 16.
Thus, the Vietnamese team still has 25 players to prepare for the friendly match against Cambodia on March 19 and the qualifying round of Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup against Laos on March 25 in Binh Duong.
Previously, Viet Anh was not present at the first training session of the Vietnam team on the afternoon of March 12 on the secondary field in Binh Duong stadium.
During this afternoon's practice session on the field, Coach Kim Sang Sik welcomed Nguyen Tien Linh, Nguyen Quang Hai and Dinh Thanh Binh back. All three still have to practice separately to gradually regain their fitness.
The Vietnamese team has 5 more days to prepare for the friendly match against Cambodia. This match will take place at 7:30 p.m. on March 19 at Binh Duong Stadium.
