"Do you think it's time for term limits in Washington, DC?" Haley asked at a rally in Conway, South Carolina. "Do you think we need to have a mental health test for everyone over 75?" Haley asked.

"The US Congress is becoming the most privileged nursing home in the country," Haley said.

It is important that American voters know that the people making important decisions about the future of the economy and national security must be the best and at the peak of their abilities, Ms. Haley stressed.

Ms. Haley, 52 years old, has repeatedly attacked the age of political opponents, including President Biden (82 years old) and former President Donald Trump (78 years old).

Winning again, Mr. Trump said his opponent had no chance.

The former US Ambassador to the UN said it was time for the US Congress to elect younger generation leaders, after US Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell suddenly "froze" for several seconds while answering reporters in September 2023.

Mr McConnell is the same age as Mr Biden at 82 and has so far refused to retire after many people expressed concerns about his health.
