On March 22, the 6th China-Japan High-Level Economic Dialogue took place in the Japanese capital Tokyo under the chairmanship of host country Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.
According to a VNA correspondent in Beijing, at the dialogue, the two sides agreed to jointly implement the important consensus reached by the two countries' senior leaders, enrich the content of the mutually beneficial strategic relationship between China and Japan in the economic field, and jointly commit to strengthening the constructive and stable bilateral economic and trade relations, meeting the requirements of the new era.
After the dialogue, the two sides reached 20 important agreements on enhancing cooperation in green development, protecting the ecological environment, caring for the elderly and nursing to promote the "silver economy," strengthening cooperation in the supply chain and protecting intellectual property.
The two sides also agreed to strengthen China-Japan cooperation in third markets, jointly evaluate the progress of joint projects, and continue to expand economic cooperation between enterprises. In addition, the two countries will promote cooperation in trade in services, including plans to hold the China-Japan Policy Dialogue on Trade in Services in Japan in 2025.
It is expected that this year, China and Japan will hold vice-ministerial-level consultations on industry, with the participation of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry; encourage the continuation of the China-Japan Ministerial Dialogue on Food Safety Cooperation between the General Administration of Customs of China and the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare; and hold a meeting of the China-Japan Working Group on Optimizing the Business Environment in Japan to promote a fair, transparent and predictable business environment.
In addition, the two sides will hold dialogues between Chinese government agencies and the Japanese Chamber of Commerce in China, as well as discuss dialogues between Japanese government agencies and Chinese business associations in Japan.
The two countries also pledged to cooperate in implementing the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, hold an Expert Dialogue on Cooperation in Marine Debris Management, review the 7th China-Japan Maritime Policy Forum, and strengthen maritime cooperation.
Regarding the issue of the discharge of treated radioactive wastewater from the Fukushima nuclear plant into the sea and the export of Japanese seafood to China, the two sides reaffirmed their full, accurate and comprehensive understanding of the consensus announced on September 20, 2024, confirmed the continuation of long-term international monitoring of the discharge into the sea and the monitoring of China's independent sampling.
If there are no unusual results, consultations will be held on the export of Japanese seafood to China. The two sides also agreed to hold the 7th China-Japan High-Level Economic Dialogue in China at an appropriate time./.
