According to a VNA reporter in Vientiane, the Indochinese Communist Party, the predecessor of the Communist Party of Vietnam, was founded on February 3, 1930, under the direct and comprehensive leadership of President Ho Chi Minh, not only helping the struggle of the people of the three Indochinese countries of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia to achieve development, but also creating the premise for the birth of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party 70 years ago - on March 22, 1955.

The 20 years of fighting against American imperialism were a period of fierce and arduous struggle, but under the correct and wise leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the Lao revolutionary forces had flexible tactics, participating in the Coalition Government three times in 1957, 1962 and 1973 and becoming stronger each time.

Since 1975, the Lao People's Revolutionary Party has been the ruling party and established a new government; focusing on leading the restoration of the economy and society, focusing on resolving the consequences of war and social consequences left by the old regime, gradually bringing people's lives back to normal; at the same time focusing on developing education, eliminating illiteracy, preserving and developing the good culture of the country and the nation.

In the early stages of national defense and construction, the Lao People's Revolutionary Party always attached importance to and focused on Party building, setting out the tasks and directions for Party building in the new stage as follows: "Party building must start from political tasks and focus on completing the Party's political tasks; building a strong Party in all three aspects: politics, ideology, organization and Party building associated with government building and mass movements."

Based on the actual situation in Laos since 1975 and with the Party's wisdom, at the 4th Party Congress in 1986, the Lao People's Revolutionary Party set out a renewal policy, starting with economic renewal, mainly economic policy renewal; identifying and applying a multi-sector economy, a market economy, expanding cooperation with foreign countries on the basis of mutual benefit, shifting from a natural and semi-natural economy, self-sufficiency to a commodity economy; The 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th Congresses of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party continued to lead the organization and implementation of the renewal policy, with systematic and continuous inspection, summarization, assessment, and drawing experience from reality in each stage, while gradually upgrading and making the Party's comprehensive renewal policy with principles increasingly complete.

Currently, Laos has diplomatic relations with 149 countries, has Lao diplomatic missions in 42 countries, has 33 foreign missions in Laos, has relations with more than 140 political parties and economic relations with more than 50 countries.

During 70 years of establishment, fighting, growing and leading the revolution, the Lao People's Revolutionary Party has always maintained its political mettle, scientific revolutionary nature; adhered to Marxism-Leninism, Kaysone Phomvihane thought, the fine traditions of the Party, the country and the special features of Laos; the Lao People's Revolutionary Party has always been steadfast in its socialist ideals, by building and perfecting the people's democratic regime, steadily advancing along the socialist path.

Entering the current new phase, the Lao People's Revolutionary Party has led and directed the timely and successful implementation of two national agendas, including the National Agenda to solve economic and financial difficulties and the National Agenda to prevent and combat drugs from 2021.

The Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party has recently issued a Resolution on building an independent and self-reliant economy and a Resolution on strengthening the organizational apparatus, creating positive and profound changes, bringing Laos steadily forward on the path of socialism.

The current world and regional situation is undergoing rapid changes and complex developments, stemming from the reality of the “brotherhood” between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, because they have the same origin from the Indochinese Communist Party founded and directly led by President Ho Chi Minh, on the basis of the close relationship, sharing the same joys and sorrows, sharing the same trenches to fight against the common enemy to gain national independence for each country of Vietnam and Laos, the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party always promote the tradition of solidarity, mutual assistance in the spirit of “biting a grain of rice in half, sharing a vegetable in half,” holding hands together to move forward; continue to lead the two countries to develop the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos./.
