At the working session, on behalf of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, comrade Nguyen Thi Phuong Hoa, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment presented a report assessing the implementation results of policies, orientations, strategies, and tasks on natural resources and environment in the documents of the 13th National Party Congress and proposed solutions for the natural resources and environment sector in the new period.
Speaking at the working session, members of the Working Group expressed their impressions of the achievements of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in recent times; highly appreciated the reports presented at the Conference which were well-prepared, elaborate, and scientific, helping the Working Group to collect many issues in both theory and practice. Members of the Working Group discussed and clarified issues related to the current status of management, protection, and use of basic natural resources in our country; results of implementing key environmental indicators according to the Resolution of the 13th National Congress; orientations, policies, tasks, and solutions of the Natural Resources and Environment sector in the coming time...
At the working session, comrade Dang Quoc Khanh, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, and Deputy Ministers of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Thi Phuong Hoa and Le Cong Thanh analyzed and clarified issues of concern to the members of the Delegation related to economic development orientation and environmental protection, including the Party's viewpoint.
After listening to the representative of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment report on the situation and results of the implementation of policies, orientations, strategies and tasks on natural resources and environment stated in the Documents of the 13th National Party Congress; the opinions exchanged between the members of the Document Subcommittee and the comrades in the Party Committee of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, comrade Phan Dinh Trac gave a concluding speech on the survey and working session.
Comrade Phan Dinh Trac acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts, attempts and achievements of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in proactively grasping the situation, actively advising the Party and the State on many major policies and orientations on resource management and environmental protection, and responding to climate change; many important documents of the Party and laws of the State have been advised to be issued and implemented synchronously and uniformly, increasingly meeting practical requirements. Resource management and environmental protection, and adaptation to climate change have received more attention and focus, especially the work of basic investigation, assessment of potential, reserves, and planning of various types of resources have been promoted and achieved many important results.
Along with that, environmental protection work is carried out with the consistent policy of not trading the environment for economic growth, gradually shifting from passive response to proactive prevention and control of sources with high risk of causing pollution.
Biodiversity conservation and ecological environment protection have been effectively implemented; climate change adaptation has been proactively and actively implemented; hydrometeorological forecasting and warning to serve natural disaster prevention and control have been invested in and modernized.
Many key environmental targets according to the Resolution of the 13th National Congress have been achieved and exceeded, such as the rate of urban population provided with clean water in 2022 is 96.2% (compared to the target by 2025 of 95-100%); the rate of urban solid waste collected and treated is about 96% (compared to the target by 2025 of 90%); the forest cover rate in 2023 is 42.02% (compared to the target by 2025 of 42%); ...
Comrade Phan Dinh Trac also pointed out a number of issues related to management, protection, exploitation, use of resources, environmental protection, response to climate change, etc. that the Party Committee of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment needs to focus on leading and directing implementation in the coming time.
The working delegation recorded and summarized the recommendations of the Party Executive Committee of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to report to the Document Subcommittee of the 14th National Party Congress.
