Continuing the program of visiting and working in Ninh Binh, on October 7, the high-ranking delegation of Vientiane Capital, Laos led by Comrade Athsaphangthong Siphandone, Member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Mayor of Vientiane Capital, visited and surveyed the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex.
Accompanying the delegation were comrade Tran Song Tung, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and leaders of the Department of Tourism.
Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex covers an area of 12,252 hectares, including Trang An Eco-tourism Area, Hoa Lu Ancient Capital Historical-Cultural Relic Area, Tam Coc - Bich Dong Tourist Area and part of Hoa Lu Special-Use Forest.
Recognizing the importance of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex in the province's "smokeless industry", Ninh Binh has developed a strategy to protect and develop Trang An into an international tourist area on the basis of preserving biodiversity, respecting natural values, and local historical and cultural values.
Since 2014, when UNESCO awarded the title of Heritage to Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, Ninh Binh tourism has had a spectacular breakthrough and has affirmed its position in the domestic and international tourism market.
At the time of preparing the dossier to nominate the heritage title for Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex in 2012, Ninh Binh only welcomed more than 1 million visitors. By 2019, Ninh Binh had attracted more than 7.65 million visitors.
From 2020 to present, despite being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Ninh Binh has still overcome difficulties and challenges, continuing to be voted as the top attractive destination in Vietnam by many international travel magazines and websites such as TripAdvisor, Telegraph, Business Insider...
For many years, Ninh Binh has maintained its position in the top 15 destinations, the 10 provinces attracting the highest number of visitors in the country. In the first 9 months of 2023, Ninh Binh welcomed about 5.52 million visitors, 1.9 times higher than the same period last year. Revenue reached more than 5,060 billion VND, 2.2 times higher than the same period in 2022.
During the survey trip, the high-ranking delegation of Vientiane Capital explored and enjoyed the majestic beauty of mountains, rivers, caves and contemplated interesting stories about Trang An - a land bearing the traces of prehistoric life from thousands of years ago.
The delegation also offered incense at Suoi Tien Temple, which worships Duc Thanh Quy Minh Dai Vuong - the god who defended Son Nam pass and protected Vietnam during the reign of King Hung Due Vuong.
Through the visit and field survey, the high-ranking delegation of Vientiane Capital highly appreciated the efforts of Ninh Binh in preserving and promoting heritage values associated with sustainable tourism development in Trang An.
Appreciating the unique historical, cultural and natural values in Trang An, the delegates also expressed their hope that in the coming time, the cooperative relationship between Ninh Binh and the capital Vientiane will be strengthened, especially cooperation in cultural exchange, sharing experiences in preserving and promoting heritage values associated with sustainable tourism development; cooperation in supporting tourism and travel businesses to build tours to provide for tourists and participate in international tourism fairs of the two countries; enhancing the promotion and introduction of scenic spots of Ninh Binh province as well as landmarks of the capital Vientiane.
