(NLDO)- Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, a "dual" world heritage of Vietnam, has been valued by experts at a total economic value (TEV) of 213 billion USD.
On March 7, news from the Ninh Binh Provincial Department of Tourism said that this unit has just coordinated with the Office of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Hanoi, the School of Interdisciplinary Sciences and Arts, Hanoi National University, Santagata Organization for Cultural Economics (Italy), Leibniz Institute for Urban and Regional Ecological Economic Development (Germany) and domestic and international experts and scientists, to organize an international workshop "Economic Value of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex and Brand Development of World Heritage Destination".

At the two-day workshop (March 5 and 6 in Ninh Binh), Vietnamese and international experts, scientists, and managers discussed "Economic aspects of world heritage - lessons from global models and orientations for Trang An world heritage" and "Tourism economics and sustainable development scenarios for Trang An world heritage and policy recommendations".
From there, through the method of assessing the overall economic value of the heritage; assessing the total economic value (TEV), experts and scientists have estimated the value of Trang An World Heritage at 213 billion USD.
This valuation is calculated based on the foundation of 10 core value groups including: Entertainment value; karst landscape system value; biodiversity value; archaeological value; Trang An special-use forest value; cultural value of communal houses, temples, pagodas; festival cultural value; folk performing arts cultural value; residential land value with strong impact from heritage in the core heritage area and residential land value with impact from heritage in the buffer heritage area.

At the workshop, Mr. Jonathan Baker, UNESCO Representative in Vietnam, shared that this study not only helps to accurately measure the economic value of Trang An, but also opens up a new direction in heritage conservation associated with sustainable development. According to the UNESCO Representative in Vietnam, this study assesses the economic impact of Trang An in four main aspects, contributing to the livelihoods of local people; sustainable land use; conservation and development of heritage tourism; long-term economic recovery.
In addition to its core values, Trang An is also evaluated based on the direct impacts of the heritage on the local tourism economy and cultural industries; the impacts and organic relationships between cultural heritage and sustainable settlement and livelihood activities in the locality.
Not only Trang An, there are many famous landscapes and constructions in the world that have been valued at very high prices such as: Eiffel Tower (France) 545 billion USD; Roman Colosseum (Italy) 114 billion USD; Tower of London (UK) 89 billion USD; Duomo Cathedral (Milan, Italy) 103 billion USD...

On June 25, 2014, Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex was officially recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage based on three outstanding criteria: Outstanding global cultural values; aesthetic values; Outstanding global values of geology and geomorphology. At the time of its recognition by UNESCO, Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex was the 31st mixed heritage in the world, the 11th in Asia Pacific and the first mixed heritage in Southeast Asia.
