'Ecological, smart' cities are gradually taking shape

PV: Could you please tell us about the outstanding results that Chon Thanh town achieved in 2024?

Mr. Ha Duy Dat: By the end of 2024, Chon Thanh town had achieved remarkable results in all fields. The town's economy continued to develop. Industrial production maintained growth, reaching 33,480 billion VND, equivalent to 100.05% of the plan, equal to 115.73% compared to 2023; the production value of the construction industry reached 3,476 billion VND, reaching 100% of the plan, equal to 120.44% compared to 2023.

Regarding trade and service activities, Chon Thanh town has proactively adapted to the difficult economic situation and maintained growth momentum. The commodity market is stable, meeting consumer demand and serving production and business. The town's total retail sales of goods in 2024 reached VND 11,650 billion, reaching 100% of the plan, equal to 104.18% compared to 2023; service revenue reached VND 3,023 billion, reaching 100% of the plan, equal to 104.18% compared to 2023.

Agricultural production in 2024 is stable. The value of agricultural production is 4,080 billion VND, reaching 101.7% of the plan, equal to 102.38% compared to 2023. State budget revenue is better than the previous year, meeting the requirements of regular expenditure and development investment expenditure. Total budget revenue arising in the area reached more than 490 billion VND, reaching 102% of the adjusted plan assigned by the province and reaching 99.9% of the adjusted estimate approved by the Town People's Council.

The national target program on new rural construction (NTM) has been implemented with attention, contributing to significantly changing the appearance of the countryside and people's lives. Urban infrastructure has been continuously invested in and gradually improved. Up to now, the town has 2/4 communes meeting advanced NTM standards, and is currently completing the dossier to consider recognizing 1 more commune (Nha Bich) meeting the standards. It is expected that by the end of 2025, Chon Thanh will have 100% of communes (4/4 communes) meeting advanced NTM standards.

The work of building national standard schools has been given attention, the whole town currently has 12/23 (52.1%) schools meeting national standards. It is expected that by 2025, Chon Thanh will strive to have 5 more schools to reach the target of nearly 70% of national standard schools according to the town's resolution. People's health care work has been given attention. Target programs on health and population have been implemented. 100% of health stations currently have doctors, maintaining 100% of commune-level health stations meeting national standards.

In addition, Chon Thanh has also focused on implementing poverty reduction programs and policies and has brought positive results. Up to now, the whole town still has 6 poor households (3 households less than the end of 2023), accounting for 0.02%. It is expected that by the end of 2025, Chon Thanh town will have no more poor households.

PV: In your opinion, what is the reason for the town to achieve such results?

Mr. Ha Duy Dat: To achieve the above results, first of all, thanks to the attention of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, departments and branches; the direct leadership of the Town Party Committee; the solidarity and consensus of the entire political system and the people in the area. Along with that is the determination and closeness in leading and directing the implementation of socio-economic development tasks. Especially the proactive removal of difficulties and obstacles, taking advantage of the strengths and advantages of the locality for development. The town always accompanies the people and businesses in removing and resolving administrative procedures that are still stuck.

Another reason is that the town has seriously and effectively implemented administrative reform tasks, improved the investment and business environment, removed difficulties, and supported business operations. Administrative reform and digital transformation are top priorities for Chon Thanh. In 2024, the town inaugurated the Intelligent Operations Center (IOC). The center helps to better operate and manage the state in all areas of the town.

PV: Could you please tell us which areas Chon Thanh town will prioritize development in 2025?

Mr. Ha Duy Dat: The town aims to focus on developing industry, trade and services in 2025; focusing on developing high-tech agriculture. Promoting the development of collective economy and cooperatives. Focusing on implementing tasks on digital transformation and administrative reform. In particular, continuing to focus on implementing key projects of the province in the area, such as: Becamex project, the western road project of National Highway 13, 2 expressways (Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh and Gia Nghia (Dak Nong) - Chon Thanh (Binh Phuoc). At the same time, Chon Thanh will strive to complete the targets assigned by the Provincial People's Committee.

PV: So, what are the solutions that Chon Thanh has set out to complete the goals and plans for 2025, sir?

Mr. Ha Duy Dat: To complete the key tasks in 2025, Chon Thanh town has set out specific and drastic solutions. Firstly, continue to strengthen the implementation of tasks and solutions to collect budget to ensure spending sources for development investment. Secondly, continue to focus on investing in completing the urban infrastructure system according to the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021-2025 as well as the Chon Thanh urban development project for the period 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030, gradually completing the goal that by 2030, Chon Thanh will complete the criteria to become a type III urban area.

Third, continue to pay attention to urban beautification; build civilized urban areas in wards; build advanced new rural areas in the remaining communes and model new rural areas. To beautify the urban areas, Chon Thanh has focused on approving plans. In 2024, the town approved the planning of 3 sub-areas of wards including: Minh Hung, Minh Long and Thanh Tam; the remaining wards of Minh Thanh and Hung Long are focusing on completing the project for approval in 2025. For 4 communes, the general construction planning of 3 communes of Nha Bich, Minh Thang, Minh Lap has been approved, and Quang Minh commune is waiting for the implementation of the work of arranging administrative units in the period of 2023-2025 of the province, then will proceed with the next steps.

Fourthly, Chon Thanh will focus on promoting administrative reform, digital transformation, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management in all fields. Fifthly, implementing preferential policies, attracting investment, supporting the development of industry, trade and services; at the same time, creating all favorable conditions for communes to develop agriculture towards high-tech agriculture in the coming time.
