World oil prices increased sharply in the last trading session of the week. WTI crude oil closed at 67.18 USD/barrel, up 0.63 USD/barrel (equivalent to 0.95%). Brent oil also increased to 70.58 USD/barrel, up 0.70 USD/barrel (1.00%).
Earlier, WTI oil opened the session at $66.78/barrel, while Brent oil started at $70.16/barrel.
Oil prices continue to rise as the conflict in Ukraine shows no signs of ending, analysts say. At the same time, Russian oil supplies are unlikely to return to the Western market, raising concerns about tightening energy supplies.
Commenting on oil price movements next week, ANZ analysts said that most price forecasts are bearish in the short term, but geopolitical tensions could still cause supply disruptions, pushing oil prices up.
Citing rising US supply amid weaker-than-expected global demand, the International Energy Agency warned that global oil supply could exceed demand by about 600,000 barrels per day this year. The agency also cut its demand growth estimates for the fourth quarter of 2024 and the first quarter of 2025 due to macroeconomic uncertainty caused by escalating trade tensions between the US and several countries.
Domestic retail gasoline prices on March 17, 2025 will be applied according to the adjustment session from 3:00 p.m. on March 13 by the Ministry of Finance - Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The price of diesel 0.05S decreased by VND435/liter, down to VND17,898/liter; kerosene decreased by VND483/liter, down to VND18,090/liter; the price of mazut 180CST 3.5S decreased by VND155/kg, down to VND16,995/kg.
