In 2024, tourism promotion achieved many great achievements, especially in the international market. Vietnam's tourism industry participated in booths at 4 large and prestigious tourism fairs in the region and the world; organized 9 programs to introduce Vietnam tourism and connect businesses, cultural and tourism festivals in 11 countries, territories and 16 cities.
Tourism promotion activities abroad have basically been restored with the same scale, quantity and frequency as before the COVID-19 pandemic. Tourism promotion activities have also been gradually innovated in form and content, and upgraded in scale and stature.
Tourism promotion has been linked with cultural, artistic and culinary activities; linked with diplomatic activities of government leaders in other countries.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong said that there will be 3 tourism and cultural promotion programs abroad in 2024 with the participation and speech of the Prime Minister. That sends a strong message about strengthening and innovating promotional activities and promoting the national image in the new context.
Mr. Van Ba Son - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam informed that during the year, the local tourism industry also actively joined the Vietnam National Tourism Administration and related localities to participate in promotion programs in Taiwan (China) and Australia to boost exploitation of some markets that are showing signs of strong growth.
Tourism promotion and advertising activities have actively contributed to the achievement of the goals of Vietnam's tourism industry in 2024. By the end of November 2024, Vietnam will welcome 15.8 million international visitors and serve 105 million domestic tourists. Total tourism revenue will reach 758 trillion VND.
Strengthening links
According to the national tourism promotion plan for 2025, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism will step up tourism promotion in markets with room for growth.
Maintain and expand traditional markets with high proportions such as China, Japan, Korea, ASEAN; invest more strongly, ensuring efficiency in high-spending markets in Europe, Australia, the US and new, potential markets such as India, the Middle East, South America.
On the occasion of Hue National Tourism Year 2025, an international conference on cultural industry serving tourism development will take place and the Hue National Tourism Year program will be organized in Europe.
According to Deputy Minister Ho An Phong, this is not just an event for Hue. Localities, first of all the 5 provinces and cities in the tourism association "Wonderful Heritage Land" need to closely cooperate to promote tourism and quantify the results from the association.
"In addition, the two localities of Quang Nam and Kon Tum have both registered to organize the Ngoc Linh ginseng festival in 2025. Should the two provinces sit down together to coordinate the organization of a national festival and spread the brand internationally? If both sides agree, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is ready to stand up with the two localities to do it" - Deputy Minister Ho An Phong suggested.
According to the leader of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the combination between the State and enterprises, between enterprises and the community in promoting and introducing destinations is very important. Tourism promotion in recent times has significantly overcome the situation of each person doing their own thing. If relevant parties from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, localities and enterprises join together, the promotion will be much more effective.
