Discount many services to stimulate tourism

Recently, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) announced the 2025 tourism stimulus program "Vietnam - Travel to love" with many attractive policies. Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism - Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh shared with reporters of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper about this program.

Reporter : What is the goal that the 2025 tourism program "Vietnam - go to love" is aiming for, sir?

- Mr. NGUYEN TRUNG KHANH: The tourism industry's goal in 2025 is to welcome 22-23 million international visitors and 120-130 million domestic visitors. The program will be an important factor in achieving these goals. The program aims to effectively implement Resolution No. 11/NQ-CP on visa exemption under the Tourism Development Program in 2025 for citizens of the Republic of Poland, the Czech Republic and the Swiss Confederation and Resolution No. 25/NQ-CP on growth targets for industries, sectors and localities. At the same time, the program will create a foundation for the tourism industry to continue to develop strongly in the coming period.

With the desire to bring visitors diverse and quality experiences through many attractive activities and events, this year's CTKC will have many incentives on prices and services, helping visitors have access to many new products and services. Tourist areas, attractions, historical sites, and scenic spots will organize free or reduced entrance fees for visitors. Products and services such as transportation, accommodation, food, entertainment, shopping, and health care will be discounted up to 50% depending on each service category and applicable conditions. In addition, there will be online and direct promotional programs that will create opportunities for visitors to experience typical products and services of each locality.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism will organize the announcement and promotion of CTKC in tourism promotion activities in 2025 in domestic and international markets, deploying communication campaigns on social networking platforms and online tourism channels. A tourism stimulus website will also be built for localities and businesses to update products, promotional programs and information about destinations, helping tourists easily look up information related to the program.

Tourism is a comprehensive economic sector , requiring the synchronous coordination of all sectors, localities and enterprises. What specific requirements has the program set for agencies, units and enterprises?

- For the program to be effective, the tourism industry will focus on linking localities and businesses in the service supply chain, from transportation, shopping, cuisine, sightseeing, resorts, health care, conferences, seminars, sports to events; will create stimulus packages to attract tourists, while promoting community participation in tourism activities. Localities, associations and businesses will cooperate and promote unique tourism packages, including cultural products, heritage, cuisine, golf tourism, ecology, agriculture, rural areas... The tourism industry will expand new product packages, create diversity and improve service quality, as well as develop packages linking multiple destinations in one tour program. In particular, unique, typical products with local identity (such as OCOP products) will be encouraged to be produced and used as gifts and souvenirs for tourists.

Provinces and centrally-run cities will direct functional agencies, management agencies, associations, businesses and tourism services in the area to develop CTKCs according to the contents oriented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, associated with unique tourism products and local cultural events and festivals. Provide widespread information so that investors and the tourism business community in the area can actively participate in CTKCs. Ensure the participation of businesses, organizations and individuals doing business in accommodation, travel, transportation, and local tourist destinations in developing promotional packages, stimulating demand with preferential prices, enhancing the experience for tourists, applying flexibly in each stage or within the time frame of events, creating favorable conditions and encouraging visitors.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism also mobilize the participation of tourism professional organizations nationwide to participate in the program. The Vietnam Tourism Association and local tourism associations will coordinate to build separate CTKC for their members. Tourist transport units will also offer preferential policies for travel businesses, including discounts on train and plane tickets or promotional programs specifically for groups participating in the CTKC. At the same time, research will be done to open more direct flights, charter flights and increase flight frequency, connecting Vietnam's tourism centers with other markets. Travel businesses, accommodation establishments and tourism service providers will actively participate in the program, build and sell preferential product packages, while diversifying services and improving the quality of experience for tourists.

In addition, in 2025, the ministry will coordinate to organize many major events of the country such as the 80th Anniversary of National Day September 2, the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification, National Tourism Year - Hue 2025... Along with that, international forums and conferences hosted by Vietnam will be great opportunities to promote and attract tourists. The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and related units will coordinate to organize seminars on product development, survey destinations, new products and services, exclusively available in localities for travel agencies and the press.

Besides CTKC, tourists are also very interested in other solutions to attract international tourists such as visa policies . What do you think about this?

- The liberal visa policy has been used by the tourism industry of many countries as a tool to increase competitiveness with other destinations. In addition to continuing to implement the existing visa exemption policy, the Ministry has issued a Plan to implement Resolution No. 11/NQ-CP on visa exemption for citizens of Poland, the Czech Republic and Switzerland from March 1 to December 31, 2025. Accordingly, visitors from these three countries will be exempted from visas and can stay in Vietnam for 45 days, helping to facilitate procedures and attract more visitors from potential markets. The Ministry has requested the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense to facilitate the reception of visitors through international border gates; encourage airlines to increase the opening of more direct flights connecting directly with the markets; Organize for international travel businesses to register to welcome tourists according to Resolution 11/NQ-CP... Particularly for new visa-exempt markets, communication campaigns and destination introductions will be organized through activities such as Vietnam Culture - Tourism Week in Poland and the Czech Republic to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic establishment, programs to introduce Vietnam tourism destinations in the markets of Poland, Czech Republic and Switzerland...

Market expansion opportunities

In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City will continue to promote the implementation of many tourism activities and events to celebrate major holidays. In particular, the 11th Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival in 2025 with the theme "Vietnamese Ao Dai - Rising Vietnam" will take place from March 1 to 9, with a series of diverse activities... The event is expected to stimulate tourism, promote the development of the fashion, handicraft and service industries, and open up opportunities for businesses to access and expand the market. At the same time, it will contribute to achieving the tourism industry's goal of welcoming 8.5 million international visitors and 45 million domestic visitors, with an expected total revenue of VND 260,000 billion, accounting for 13% of the city's GRDP.

Link to stimulate demand

Stimulus programs need to promote links between tourist attractions, restaurants, hotels, travel agencies, etc. to create attractive tourism products at reasonable prices for tourists. Each tourism service provider needs to commit to reducing prices, from which travel agencies have a basis to build low-priced tour products while still ensuring service quality. This year will be favorable because international visitors are very crowded, many tours booked until the April 30 and May 1 holidays. For domestic visitors, a real stimulus campaign is needed in each locality and each destination. For example, trains participate in stimulating demand, reducing ticket prices for travel agencies, but during holidays and Tet, there are no discounted tickets because there are too many individual visitors. Domestic visitors from Ho Chi Minh City to other provinces and cities are very crowded, but in the opposite direction, there are few. Therefore, it is necessary to build more attractive tourism products along with real stimulus policies to attract tourists.
