At the meeting regarding the enrollment issue of Tay Mo 3 Primary School on the afternoon of August 23, Ms. Do Thi Thuy Ha, Vice Chairwoman of Nam Tu Liem District People's Committee, affirmed that the parents' wishes are legitimate and appropriate.
Vice Chairwoman of Nam Tu Liem District People's Committee Do Thi Thuy Ha said that there is a proposal to accept 520 students to Tay Mo 3 Primary School.
Nam Tu Liem District agrees to strive to accept all wishes of parents who want their children to study at public schools in Tay Mo ward.
However, the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Tu Liem District also said that this "has a mechanism problem because the district needs additional quotas from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, in addition to reviewing the conditions of facilities and teaching staff. Therefore, the earliest results of receiving 520 students to Tay Mo 3 Primary School will be on August 27".
In response to parents' comments that their children are having to go to school far away, which is very inconvenient, whether "standard schools are more important or social security is more important", Ms. Do Thi Thuy Ha said she sympathizes with the parents.
"We clearly analyzed the reverse route, the route across the bridge, across the railway, which is not convenient for elementary school students.
We have agreed on a plan that all students of Ly Nam De Primary School residing in the area according to the zoning will be transferred to Tay Mo 3 Primary School if they wish. However, this plan is still waiting for approval" - Ms. Do Thi Thuy Ha said.
The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Tu Liem District also affirmed that he will develop principles for receiving students to ensure openness and transparency with all 520 parents participating in the dialogue.
Previously, as reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper , on the morning of August 21, hundreds of parents in Nam Tu Liem District were present at the gate of Tay Mo 3 Primary School to question the school about not accepting their children with permanent residence in Tay Mo even though their houses were close to the school.
Students have to go to Ly Nam De Primary School (located in Mieu Nha, Nam Tu Liem) which is 4-5 km away from home, making it inconvenient to travel.
According to information from the People's Committee of Nam Tu Liem district, Tay Mo ward has a rapid urbanization rate, with a population of about 70,000 people, but there are only 2 primary schools: Tay Mo Primary School and Ly Nam De Primary School.
In the 2023-2024 school year, Ly Nam De Primary School has nearly 1,500 students, Tay Mo Primary School has nearly 2,500 students. To reduce the load on Tay Mo Primary School, Nam Tu Liem District has developed a project to split Tay Mo Primary School into two schools: Tay Mo Primary School and Tay Mo 3 Primary School.
Tay Mo 3 Primary School is a public school built with public investment from Nam Tu Liem District. Residents of Vinhomes Smart City Urban Area do not have to contribute to the budget to build the school.
At the time of enrollment according to the city's general schedule, Tay Mo 3 Primary School had not yet completed its school apparatus, so the People's Committee of Nam Tu Liem District directed Tay Mo Primary School to carry out enrollment work for Tay Mo 3 Primary School as well.
Accordingly, the total enrollment quota for grade 1 according to the zoning for Tay Mo 3 Primary School is 400, including students in residential groups 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and buildings that have not yet established residential groups in Vinhomes Smart City Urban Area.
All 400 students were recruited according to regulations and were in the right groups. However, due to the rapid population growth, by the end of the enrollment period, the school had recruited 60 more students than the target. The total number of first grade students recruited was 460, divided into 13 classes.
After separating Tay Mo Primary School, the number of remaining students at Tay Mo Primary School is 1,791 students; the number of students at Tay Mo 3 Primary School is 1,111 students, including 460 newly recruited grade 1 students, the remaining students are grades 2, 3, 4, 5 separated from Tay Mo Primary School according to the zoning.
