Good preparation of seed supply is one of the important conditions for the 2025 forest planting season to be implemented as planned and achieve high efficiency. Especially in response to the province's request and direction to quickly restore the forest area damaged by natural disasters in 2024.
These days, Tien Yen Forestry One Member Co., Ltd. continues to strengthen the care of seedlings to ensure timely service for the afforestation needs in Tien Yen district as well as neighboring areas. The process of sowing seedlings is carried out by the unit according to the process and is inspected and certified by the competent authority to meet the standards before being sold. Right from the stages of mixing soil, packing pots, sowing seeds, caring... all must be carried out in accordance with the process instructed by the competent authority. The team of workers is focusing on caring for and checking the growth and development of seedlings, preparing conditions to cope with unusual weather developments, especially the effects of severe cold spells and frost. Thereby, ensuring a source of quality, disease-free seedlings, minimizing investment costs for seedlings when planting.
The working atmosphere is bustling in almost all companies, cooperatives, and households producing seedlings throughout the province. In Hai Ha district, the planned target for 2025 is to plant 550 hectares of production forest and 60 hectares of protective forest. To ensure the supply of quality seedlings for people to plant new forests, the district's professional agencies have strengthened inspection and guided 9 seedling production facilities in the area to strictly implement technical standards. The requirement is to ensure the actual capacity of 2.1 million acacia and cinnamon seedlings (100% capacity) to meet the demand inside and outside the district.
Ba Che district is prioritizing resources, implementing preferential investment policies, attracting capital into the field of afforestation and forest protection management. Notably, in the district, there are two units, the Sustainable Forest Development Joint Stock Company (Thanh Son commune) and Ba Che Forestry Cooperative, which are capable of providing local seedlings to people. These units have successfully produced native green lim and green giổi trees using both traditional seeding and grafting methods, serving the needs of concentrated afforestation and large timber plantation of people in the entire district. Right from the beginning of the new crop of 2025, the district has directed and urged 32 seed production facilities in the area to prepare 15 million seedlings for supply in the area.
On average, each year, the whole province needs about 4 million seedlings for planting protective forests and special-use forests; 20 million seedlings for planting production forests. This year, this number has increased many times, with the goal of recovering from the severe damage caused by storm No. 3 (storm Yagi). Specifically, nearly 129,000 hectares of forest in the province were damaged, of which the area of planted forests that were completely and severely damaged was nearly 77,000 hectares. The need for a large quantity of seeds for production has created a need for the province to pay attention to and direct the management of the quality of plant varieties.
Since the end of 2024, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has requested districts, towns and cities in the province to proactively maintain contact and cooperate with tree seedling production facilities in the province to ensure the quantity and quality of seedlings for spring forest planting in the area. At the same time, localities should promptly direct and guide organizations and households that are qualified to provide forestry seedlings to repair, disinfect and sterilize nurseries... Thereby quickly stabilizing the production of seedlings, prioritizing large timber species, native trees, in line with the province's forestry development policy, and capable of adapting to the environment.
In recent years, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has developed a research and seed production program to serve the restructuring of the agricultural sector with the goal of rapidly increasing the rate of use of advanced technical varieties for mass production, suitable to the conditions of each region; focusing on local varieties with special characteristics, good resistance to natural disasters and epidemics, and moving towards exporting some forest plant varieties that are strengths of the locality. At the same time, restoring local specialty tree varieties associated with building brands and geographical indications such as: Giổi, Sở, Trà hoa vàng, Sa Mộc... Thereby, gradually taking the initiative in forestry seedling sources, ensuring the goal of forest development in the province.
Entering the new forest planting season, the forestry sector focuses on strictly managing the source of forestry seedlings to ensure the quality and quantity of planted trees. At the same time, it coordinates to strengthen propaganda and advises people to choose to buy seedlings at reputable establishments that have been recognized as meeting the standards for nursery export according to State regulations, and absolutely avoid buying products of unclear origin.
In 2025, the province strives to plant 31,847 hectares of concentrated forests, including 2,724 hectares of protective forests and 29,123 hectares of production forests. This figure is 2.4 times higher than the 2024 forest planting target, demonstrating the province's high determination in developing and restoring forestry production after damage caused by storm Yagi. On the first day of spring after the Lunar New Year holiday of At Ty 2025, localities and units in the whole province planted more than 112,000 trees, with an area equivalent to 112 hectares. |
