At the working session with the Standing Committee of Thua Thien Hue Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Le Truong Luu said that from the beginning of 2024 to now, the province's socio-economic development tasks have achieved extremely important results in all areas: economic growth rate (GRDP) reached 6.5% -7%; state budget revenue reached 6,000 billion VND, reaching 51% of the plan; newly granted to 19 investment projects with a total registered capital of more than 5,200 billion VND; many infrastructure works, especially transport infrastructure, have received investment attention in a synchronous and modern direction.

The tourism industry has strongly recovered, culture and society have made many advances, social security care has been promoted; restoration, conservation, embellishment and promotion of relic values have been given attention. The province's administrative reform indexes such as PCI, PAPI, PAR INDEX are ranked high nationwide.

Industry and construction have a fairly high growth rate; agriculture, forestry and fishery continue to develop in the direction of increasing added value. The fields of culture, society, health, education, science and technology continue to receive attention and investment; administrative reform is promoted; Party building and the political system have many positive changes....

In the field of national defense and security, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee have led and directed localities and units to effectively implement military and national defense tasks, well carry out military recruitment, national defense and security education for subjects, security and order are ensured, and border security and sovereignty are maintained.

Currently, Thua Thien Hue province is focusing on completing the Project to establish a centrally-run city and arranging the establishment of district and commune-level administrative units on the basis of Thua Thien Hue's administrative boundaries.

Provincial Party Secretary Le Truong Luu affirmed that national defense and security in the area have been consolidated and enhanced; sovereignty and territory have been maintained; political security and social order and safety have been ensured. The work of building the Party and the political system has had many positive changes, on the basis of closely following reality and strongly focusing on the grassroots. The province has actively implemented important plans and projects to serve the goal of building Thua Thien-Hue into a centrally-run city.

The leaders of Thua Thien Hue Provincial Party Committee also made recommendations and proposed many opinions related to the transfer of facilities of the dissolved Vocational College No. 23, military works affecting the Complex of Hue Monuments, the handover of military works, and paid attention to directing the successful implementation of Resolution 54-NQ/TW dated December 10, 2019 of the Politburo on the construction and development of Thua Thien Hue province to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang praised and highly appreciated the achievements of the Party Committee, government, people and armed forces of Thua Thien Hue province in the past time. In particular, the economic growth index is stable, people's lives are improved, the environment is clean and beautiful; the work of promoting heritage values is focused and national defense and security are always maintained.

General Phan Van Giang emphasized: Thua Thien Hue has an important strategic position in socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in Military Region 4. Therefore, the General suggested that in the coming time, Thua Thien Hue province should regularly grasp the viewpoint that socio-economic development is the central task, Party building is the key, cultural development is the spiritual foundation, ensuring national defense and security is the key task.

Continue to mobilize and effectively use all resources to promote socio-economic development, regularly focus on ensuring national defense and security, maintaining stability and absolute safety in all aspects, creating a solid, comprehensive and sustainable foundation.

General Phan Van Giang also suggested that Thua Thien Hue province continue to pay attention to strengthening its national defense potential, building a national defense posture associated with a people's security posture, a national border defense posture, and a solid provincial and district defense area; continue to pay attention to investing in and building national defense works in the province; strengthen coordination to maintain border security; maintain political security, social order and safety, be ready in all situations, and avoid being passive and surprised.

Regarding the opinions and recommendations of the province, General Phan Van Giang discussed that the policy of establishing the province as a city directly under the Central Government is always supported by the Central Government; issues related to military-defense and armed forces, departments, branches and sectors need to focus on coordination, remove difficulties and obstacles. General Phan Van Giang noted that regarding military-defense issues, functional units in the province need to carefully study the documents to implement them in accordance with regulations.

Agreeing with the key tasks identified by the two units, General Phan Van Giang thoroughly grasped and implemented the Resolution of the 13th Central Committee on the Strategy for National Defense in the new situation. Proactively grasp the area, accurately forecast the situation, coordinate with relevant forces to maintain political security and social order and safety, and avoid being passive or surprised in any situation.

General Phan Van Giang emphasized that the military, national defense, management, and protection of border security and sovereignty are the top, central, and consistent political tasks of the armed forces and requested units to uphold the spirit of initiative, organize training and drills well; be ready with plans, forces, and means to participate in the tasks of preventing, combating, and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, search and rescue, forest fire prevention and fighting, and preventing, stopping, and effectively combating all types of crimes in border areas.
