According to a statement released by the Chinese Embassy in the United States on April 21, speaking at a Harvard University forum, Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng said Beijing hopes to work with Washington so that the relationship can move forward on a stable, healthy and sustainable path. However, Xie Feng also stressed that the two sides must work together to establish a correct understanding.
"China will not gamble with the US, interfere in its internal affairs or interfere in the US election. China is willing to be a partner and friend of the US. If the US continues to interfere in China's internal affairs and harm China's interests on issues related to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xinjiang, Tibet and the South China Sea, how can we maintain the bottom line of bilateral relations no matter how many 'barriers' are erected?"
According to diplomatic sources, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit China from April 24 to discuss many issues, including the Middle East crisis, the Russia-Ukraine conflict and tensions in the East Sea.
