Recently, at the invitation of Japan, Vietnam's Sakura Yosakoi Mountain Team participated in the Yosakoi Festival in Kochi Prefecture, Japan, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Sakura Yosakoi Mountain consists of 68 members, the only Yosakoi team from Vietnam as well as Asia invited to participate in the festival with 155 Yosakoi teams from different regions of Japan.

According to the program of the Organizing Committee, the Nui Truc Sakura Yosakoi team and other teams participated in the performance in front of Kochi City Hall on the morning of August 10. The Governor of Kochi Prefecture and many officials and employees of the City Hall came to watch and cheer.
Afterwards, the Sakura Yosakoi Mountain Bamboo Team performed at two main stages, Kochi Castle and Chuokoen, and paraded through 10 streets such as Harimayabashi, Obiyamachi, Otesuji, Matsugata, Aeon Kochi, Umenotsuji... with a total length of about 5 km.
On the streets where the Vietnamese team paraded, many Japanese people, international visitors and the local Vietnamese community came to watch and cheer enthusiastically.

This Yosakoi Festival and the activities of the Vietnamese delegation were widely reported by Japanese media and social networks.
With the spirit of always striving and being creative, the Sakura Yosakoi Mountain Team brought to the festival the performance Renri Hyakka - a composition that skillfully and delicately combined costumes, music, props, and performance style between the two cultures of Vietnam and Japan.
Through this, Nui Truc Sakura Yosakoi has introduced to Japanese audiences and international friends the beauty of Vietnamese culture as well as traditional costumes.

With the performance motto not only carrying the Japanese yosakoi spirit, but also imbued with the spirit, style and cultural identity of Vietnam, along with careful preparation, dedicated performance and being loved by the audience, the Nui Truc Sakura Yosakoi Team was awarded a Commemorative Medal by the Organizing Committee.
Yosakoi originated in Kochi city in 1954, considered a variation of Awa Odori - a traditional summer dance originating from Tokushima prefecture.
Yosakoi means "Come this night" in the Kochi dialect. It is a dance performed by groups of no more than 150 people, who move forward while dancing. Today, Yosakoi is performed at festivals and celebrations throughout Japan.
The Nui Truc Sakura Yosakoi Team (under the Vietnam-Japan Cultural Exchange Association) was established from a group of students of the Nui Truc Japanese Language Center, and is the first Yosakoi team to be born in Vietnam. Over 15 years of formation and development, Sakura Yosakoi Mountain Team has left its mark in the cultural exchange between the two countries. |
